You know the rule "I before E except after C and when it sounds like A as in Neighbor or Weigh"?
I found this to be ironic: the word weird breaks that rule. Weird, isn't it?

It always amazes me that certain phrases are so persistent, like tuna fish, hot water heater and unthaw. Of course, after my experience in public school, I really shouldn't be surprised.
