Now I was flipping through my chaos codex today, and noticed that on the section for summoned Daemons, that there is only one entry of stats, and that all their equipment is is a close combat weapon.

Does this mean that all summoned Daemons are the same, or am I just being stupid and missing something?

They are identical. I will now remove myself from the fire range of the local chaos players. (Runs)

Lol thanks a ton. In past editions were they different, because on other Forums I noticed players talking about how different Daemons are good for different roles in a word bearers army and that confused me.

In every edition they've been different. Why they chose to be different this time is anyone's guess.

Now it is so generic and boring. I wish they had kept it the same as older versions. When the next edition comes out I hope they change it.

This was noted and completely beat into the ground at the time of the incredibly boring Codex's release.

What is with all these chaos threads lately? Anywho, Im with everyone on this. I used to LOVE chaos, they were my first army. But I bought this codex, read it twice to make sure I didnt mis interpret anythin, and said "man screw this"
I read the "greater demons" section, and laughed. They are all the same? uh... ok? Same with other demons as you mentioned. Dear lord. Someone needs to make an army with a bunch of demons in every squad. Im talking just RANDOM. and goto a tournament and see what they say about it. Not that it matters any lol

To be honest the eradication of variation in summoned demons may have something to do with the release of the Chaos Demons codex . . . but I'm with you on the fact that they should be equipped differently in the CSM codex . . . what's the point of a pure Khorne army, if you can't have proper Khornate demons to get more BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!! . . . *Khorne stops possessing Oshova*

at the very least give mark effects to the daemons. This is what pissed me off the most about the new codex

Yeah mark effects would be good, atleast then you would have an actual rules difference between the 4 Gods, instead of just creating model differences. And the world would be a happier(?) place . . . well if you're Chaos it would be =p

Or you could do what GW wants you to do and play Chaos Daemons. Never mind the fact that some people don't like the concept of Daemonic Legions in regular games of 40K, or that we kinda liked having Daemon-heavy CSM armies. No, no - there's a new Codex, go play that instead.

I would play the chaos armies except they seem proficient at totally ruining my concept of "CHAOS"... through many things, the codex being only part of the situation, Slaanesh still rocks though.

One thing I would like to do would be to mix the 2 codices, so using normal CSM codex rules, but with summoned demons from the Demons codex . . . obviously not for tourney play, just for casual games down the club. Would be cool to get that mixture back into the game.

Is there any talk of a new codex coming out anytime soon? And is there any way we the players could just make our own set of Daemon rules for chaos armies that most of us agree on? It would be alot of work, but maybe it would come to something in the end, maybe even just using the stats/equipment from the Daemon codex on Daemon's in chaos armies.

As a player you can do whatever you want with the rules. We did, writing out a whole set of rules and Codices for 40K back when 4th Ed came out. We've been playtesting and using those rules ever since. Whatever works for you and your group, go for it.

As far as a new Codex, yeah, don't expect one any time soon. We don't even know what's coming out for Space Wolves beyond Grey Hunters and a Codex, and that's only a couple of months away.

And we still have Dark Eldar to wait for aswell . . . come on you know you want them really =]

Been playing them for 10 years, why stop now? But it did kinda push me towards getting a kick ass Khorne/Slaanesh double team of either daemons or CSM =p
