I am asking this question because I was in a game over this past weekend and 5 Khorne Zerkers ate my 15 Stormboyz for lunch. Now granted Boss Z wasnt with them, but KBs on the charge I dont think even he would have lived lol. If I add him to a unit of say 15-20 S-boyz what would be the best tactic for this type of unit, seeing as they have to enter the game via Deepstrike? Or should I drop the Boss, and start them on the board?

I say if your going to use stormboyz go all out with them and deep strike them with zagstrukk just try and let them land next to a unit you really want / need the assualt on because zagstruk and the vulcha squad can assualt the same turn they deep strike

personaly i like 15 kommandos + snikrot more
being able to move in from any table edge messes with the opponents deployment and pushes him closer to you, which is already worth his points imo
add 2 burnaz into that squad and it can be a nasty stab in the back just have to be warry of the turn after he comes in because hes prone to being a sitting duck

Zagstrukk is a waste of points. Normal Powerklaw nobz do the job more efficiently and reliably. If you must use him, deep strike him in next to a squad of terminators or something, and try to stay away from walkers and monstrous creatures. If you don't take down your target in one round of assault, the stormboyz are already lost.

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

I use Boss Zagstruk in certain army lists, and he's incredibly useful *if* you get him deepstruck where you need him. Deepstriking him next to heavy units that you can't assault (obliterators, etc) or behind enemy lines to assault a heavy weapons team, or entrenched marines, or to hit a flank of an assault you're making is absolutely awesome.

On the flip side....placing him and rolling 2D6+Scatter is a gamble. He gets to assault the turn you deep strike with an initiative order powerfist. That's unreal, insane, and can single-handedly kill most of the deadly stuff in 40k. But if you deep strike and end up not within 6", you don't get to charge. And if you are trying to end up within 6" for the assault....the chance exists that you might scatter onto what you're trying to assault and mishap.

I'd say give him a try, and decide for yourself how you like him. If you like the random stuff in the ork army (ramshackle, SAG, weirdboyz Looted Wagons, Mek's tools, etc) this will fit right in. If you don't like random stuff....well, you won't like it then. He's done very well for me in every case except for two: In one of them he ended up outside assault range, and in the other, he ended up facing off against a Soul Grinder; his powerklaw failed, and he was stuck in with the Soul Grinder the rest of the game.

How is a normal klaw nob more efficient? Correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't Zag get more attacks than a normal nob and hit most things on a 3+? Even if he doesn't, he strikes at initiative which is rediculous, and yes its only on the charge, but against meqs that might be all you need.
