Please start reading your CODEXs before you start requesting FAQing rules and they way things can be used.

Example:-

There is a lot of debate over the PofTMS and SMOKE LAUNCHERS having various aspects conflicting each other.

That is all fine and good - IF you are actually using your CODEX. I read one of the threads , quite a lengthy one at that , and less than 5 actually got the wording right out of the codex. While most of the rest either used obscure methods to get their answer OR were using words with different meanings.

ORDINARILY has different meanings to NORMALLY.

- this is not an attempt to start a PofTMS vs SMOKE LAUNCHER thread -

Somewhere.

Well, we do. Games Workshop, however, is not exactly the clearest of companies however. Some things, like the above, have two ways to look at them...and it's usually down to a single word as to the meaning. Often things simply aren't very clear. Hence why we have the You Make the Call forum. Some of the issues, such as the Nemesis Force Weapon Insta Death thing, really need FAQed to be answered once and for all...and as such never will be.

If Games Workshop was reading what i read they to would question if we were actually reading the codexs or not.

The meaning in the codex and the posts ended up being different as they had changed words instead of quoting direct.

I have a feeling that sakura is a GW-ninja spy and that he/she is actually suggesting that we 'buy' the codexs instead of absorbing them through random threads and army lists that are posted on Dakka.

The nerve some people have...

The problem is that words can be interpreted different ways, or in a complex game with 16 different codexs, there are going to be a few rules that contradict one another.

Most of the problems would be fixed if they would simply add another sentence or two to each rule to clarify.

I agree people should read their Codices. Just like I wish people would use the plural of this word correctly. =D

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy My brothers. And you will know My name is the Lord when I lay My vengeance upon thee.

...who do you think you are?

Joining a forum telling everyone they're illiterate isn't exactly productive or a good way to expand your internets.

Chill and go paint some ultramarines.

It's tempting, but I think that I am going to let Lunahound make the appropriate response to that line...

Actually, I'll kind of second this.

I came across an oddity in the Fantasy rulebook, which made a specific combination pretty much unbeatable once it had entered a Building. Namely, from the previous VC book, take a Wraith with Claw of Nagash (or whatever it was called).

Now, the Claw inflicted a S5 hit on all enemy models in base contact at the beginning of the movement phase.

And in the building rules, when attacking a building, up to US10 of models count as being in BTB contact during the combat phase.

So reading that far (and this is the order of the rules!) the Claw is a weapon of ultimate filth. Attack the building, swiftly lose your unit. But, reading on....

The rules also state that with weapons, effects, spells etc which affect models in BTB contact, the controlling player may select a single enemy model to have the effect inflicted upon it.

And I have found this a few times with online rules debates (though Dakka is pretty good for them). Rather than read the entire rule, it seems some gamers are content to simply read the rule as far as it supports their hypothesis.

One I keep spotting, is people complaining about PW and CC no longer giving an additional attack. I could have sworn blind that you did still get it, with only PF, TH and LC being subject to the matched rule, as long as the secondary close combat weapon is just a standard one (Pistols do count for this).

But yeah, do read, re-read, and read again your book. If you have any concerns, such as slightly ambiguous writings, double check online, stating as Yakface does, the various interpretations as you see them. Something I cannot stand is a rules vote where it's a choice between agreeing with a specific interpretation, and trying to prove that one above all others. Generally speaking, if an interpretation seems to good to be true, chances are that like all things in life, it is.

I have posted the exact descriptions for both - i DONT think you are illiterate.

Im not going to push it any further with PofTMS and Smoke Launchers as I think I would just be starting another PofTMS and Smoke Launcher thread.

These kind of threads... They're never a good idea, even if they were well intentioned at the start.

I can't see this going anyplace good.

And when posting in threads in the future, please remember that things that are 'obvious' to you aren't 'obvious' to everyone, and Vice-versa.

Thread...closed!
