Hi, I'm starting a space marine army soon, and I need to know a little bit about where I can get certain armor bits.

I really don't like the current power armor with the skull and eagle, and the Mk7-8 heads. Does anyone know where I can get mk6 heads, torsos with aquillas, or mk6 legs in large numbers? Do Space marines come with some of each, or all they all mk7?

Probably somewhere I shouldn't be

The Space Marine box comes with a mix of armour styles, but not enough to completley outfit a mk 6 squad. Your best option is to either ebay some RTB01 marines (still possible, though expensive), trade the extra bits for ones you want, or look for a bitz place online that sells individual components.

I think the Warstore/Battlewagon Bitz sells the Aguila torsos in bunches.

Wow, beakie heads are like 3 bucks a piece there, to heck with that, for that price I can just buy a ton of greenstuff and get creative.

It costs about $2600 to make a beekie company but you will have enough marines left over to make another company or so

You want to spend more to save more? Resin casting. Get good and you will save a fortune, in theory.

Yes you get Mk 6 heads and legs in normal space marine kits, and the aquila (which is Mk7) but only four heads (I think, could be 2), four legs and two aquilas per tactical squad :(

Best way would probably be to buy big bags of bits and then sort and sell on what you don't want.

In a world gone mad, who is left to fight for truth, justice and all that gets you smashed for under a fiver....

First played 40k during 2nd edition, missed out 3rd and 4th, and haven't played 40k since 5th edition - but still read and occasionally paint

I may just look into Resin Casting. How much would it take to get started?

Probably around 40 dollars for a start set and some resin. Then its something like 30 bucks for a good supply of 2 part resin. I made something like 5-6 molds out of my starter set.

I tried to do beakie helmets, but I didn't put in air vents to suck the trapped air out. I might try it again sometime.

You can get the stuff at micro-mark.com, or hobbytown usa or hobbyworks.

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase.

If you aren't experienced in mold making you will probably just end up wasting your time and money on resin casting. Detailed pieces like helmets are hard to do.

ph34r, I disagree. Just do the research and find others who have done it. A wealth of knowledge is here and elsewhere online, so learning as much as you can will lead to better results. Practice, as for anything, makes perfect, so I would get a few starter sets and expect to do poorly my first time out, too.

I think it is the best way to make multiples of custom work or rarities. Also, I would argue that Beakie helmets are not too detailed, if that is what is needed.
