We will call this DakkaDakka R&D,
This will be a place for you to bring your creative ideas into the light, just make sure you keep the best stuff for yourself. Arrr, yes the booty is all mine.
For instance:
Terrain, I just want to see more terrain in general. More buildings specifically, stuff that is really hard to mess up. New jungle buildings would be awesome, jungle terrain in general would be great. The main thing I would like to see is terrain that makes me want to buy it because it is cheap enough, and is well designed.
Let me get something straight here, when you design something, adding shiny bits of shiny, and a bunch of skulls does not make it inherently good...
This is why I would like to see jungle terrain, alien jungle to be exact, and as a plant lover I would like to see some really cool trees. I am not talking lego set palm trees, I want something that scares me when I put my troops next to it. Something that makes me wonder if these plants can bite back.
Plants in general would actually be fantastic, heck a plant race if well done could drive me to buy an entire new army. I see no reason why you couldn't do it with a bit of clever conceptualization, which GW happens to be pretty good at overall. Too be totally honest I want to see GW come out with an army entirely separate from any other sci-fi, hence the plant army although there may be some obscure reference to it somewhere.
I love it when my brain starts firing up, I think I may share too much if I am not careful, but a plant army would just be WAY too cool to not see happen.
Matter of fact I may try and make my own "counts as" plant force.

An apology.
Ok, ok, ok. In all seriousness, some general imperial citizenry would be great. And more buildings, but less gaudy than the current ones. The Jervis-Pattern 'Generic' CoD sprue that was never released would be awesome, because it's more plain than the others.

Aye, more STC like concrete slabs would be grand, the old skull and birdy style is getting a bit drab.
I'd also like to see more etched brass sheets that they put out once in a while, those are ace for decorating vehicles and bases.

I would like to see more terrain in general, too, but only if it's good quality (and reasonably affordable... LOL) and not more of that flimsy, gakky vac-formed blastscape crap.
And I would have agreed with you about jungle terrain, but I'm not too impressed by their other offerings so far...what was it, $8 for four tiny plastic trees, or $40 for a tiny box of plastic aquarium plants that you could probably get for $10-15 at any pet store? They'd have to do a lot better than that...something that isn't easy to do yourself, like a bunker built into a cliff face maybe.
I'd also like more race-specific terrain. The Imperium's gothic architecture is easy enough to do yourself, Eldar and Tau terrain are a lot more difficult and can't easily be made out of cardboard like your average gothic building. Although after looking at the Planetstrike book I'd like to think that at least some Tau terrain could be in the pipeline, some of that stuff looks like it was cast and not made out of styrofoam to me.
But if they have to keep putting out more Imperium-centric terrain, then how about releasing some of those three-ups that they constantly use for their photos? Like the ruined Marine statues for instance?

Of course, this is GW, so expect to pay $50-75 for said posters...

I would like to second the call for non imperial terrain.
Then there are the standard requests such as: updated codexes, support for specialist games (not just bloodbowl) the demise of the plastic catachans, high elf and dark elf warriors.
I'd also like to see more tiles for the realm of battle board (Without skull pits or a silly price) Maybe industrial tiles or alien world ones. Which brings me back to alien terrain, a Tau monorail would be great.

Race specific terrain is something I've often thought about, especially eldar and tau, elf and dwarf etc. all buildings are Imperium or Empire.

Tau buildings would be top of the list for me, because I have a Tau army.
No doubt the Eldar players would like Eldar stuff. Exodite scenery could be quite cool.
If a civilians pack is done it should include alien citizens. There are plenty of civilian SF figures around from non-GW sources, but only GW can make Tau and Eldar civvies. I assume there aren't any Ork or Necron civvies.
Nids must have non-fighting clades. They could be nice models if you want to do an assault on a Nid mother ship.

What types of buildings in particular would you want to see in an Eldar aesthetic? I think starting with Eldar would be the most obvious option.
Are you talking about equivalent pieces to the Empire terrain that GW has now? I am not a fan of boxes, it has always been a bit of a pet peeve of mine.
I am trying to imagine pieces of Eldar terrain that would make sense on the field. I always imagined Eldar structures to be either extremely large and equally graceful, like a cathedral made of bone. Small structures could look like beacons or teleport relays, but as a playable structure they would be a bit fiddly.
One concept that would work is Eldar landing platforms, oh man... that would be pretty awesome. In any Eldar structure I would like to see turrets with those cool alien glass domes... scratch that, more glass domes, if you need a lot of something because that is how you roll, let the alien glass be what ye spam.

My first post in this thread was tonge-in-cheek because we've got a better chance of seeing the buddha post on this forum than we do of seeing such a book from GW. I'd agree with all those who want alien buildings. Eldar buildings would be great fun.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

I'll jump on the terrain Bandwagon, but will take it a step further. For Tyranids, include Capillary towers, spore chimnies, and maybe the entrance to an underground tunnel system. Next, put rules for "Tyraniforming" the battlefield into the next 'Nids codex. This would be a set of rules allowing a Tyranid player to alter the battlefield to suit their purposes. Now, the terrain is not just an interesting aside, but part of the actual game.

Army Specific bits and conversion materials. Basically 4 large sprues very similar to the Cadian/Catachan Command boxes. Bionics, alternate heads, casaulties, etc...
Non-military vehicle terrain bits. I think in any sort of urban battlefield there are going to lots of barriers and piles of blown up vehicles.
Another vote for a non-military personal set. Great for conversions, but would also make some Urban fighting games more interesting (loss of KPs for killing civilians, bonus points for rounding up traitors, etc...)

I'd like to see them do a line of inks. The washes are nice and all, but inks are so much more versatile.
I'd like to see them publish their rules material in electronic format. There are plenty of methods to limit its use to those who have paid for it, with DRM technology. I'd just like to have a copy of all the rules on my netbook, without having to scan it myself or resorting to sites like piratebay.
Hell, put a code in the back of each codex that allows you to download that codex in electronic format as well. Legally, anyone who has paid for a codex is entitled to a digital backup copy (much like you're legally allowed to rip your own CDs into MP3 format). They could give us much higher quality data than we can make for ourselves, at nearly no cost to them, and generate all sorts of goodwill. It isn't like the data isn't out there for those who know how to look for it, and as services like iTunes have shown, people are more than willing to obtain their digital media legally when it's available to them, even paying for it.
I'd like to see them do a properly supported piece of list-builder software. Make it a subscription service (like McAfee or Norton) so that you can always push the newest codexes when they come out, without losing revenue. (If they do three 40k codexes a year, and a codex is $25, but includes fluff and artwork and physical meduim, I'd pay $25/year for a subscription that pushed the rules for the codexes into a list-builder) - and I'd still buy the codexes as they came out. It would have to support their supplements like IA, Apoc, and planetstrike, of course.
I'd like to see the rules and options for any unit included as a card or sheet in every box set. They could easily release new toys between codexes this way, giving people things to look forward to, and have the rules for their use available immediately. GW isn't a rules company, they're a miniatures company, as they have said themselves. The rules exist to drive sales. There's no reason not to do this - they can release their new miniatures as soon as they're ready, instead of having to wait for a full codex release, and the rules included would help the new minis sell.
