Thanks for the reply General Stubbs.

I'm very open minded to which Chapters the background is about and the more the better really, My Background knowledge of 40K isn't what it used to be, I've been gaming on/off for about twenty years now but i don't have access to the older publications anymore and i've forgotten huge chunks of it! I've got about half a Battle company's worth of marines lying around unbuilt and want to do something a bit different with them rather than what i normally do with my armies which i build and paint as fast as possible and they end up very vanilla, so i'm basically looking at creating an army with some more flavour to it!

Any advice at this point would be greatly appreciated!

95% of teens would go into a panic attack if the jonas brothers were about to jump off the empire state building copy and paste this if you are the 5% who would pull up a lawn chair grab some popcorn and yell JUMP BITCHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lexicanum is a great place to start looking for chapters. Especially as it often sites the original reference in GW literature. This means if yu can find the book, you'll often find other bits of fluff and pictures to bulk out your ideas.

Talking of space sharks.

I'm currently building up a force of Space Sharks. They specialise in drop pod assualts. I'm thinking (well assembling) assult marines swapping thier jump packs for drop pods......

Also they are grey which is easy to paint. Lexicanum says they are grey with a red stripe down the helmet. BUT accourding to RT the red helmet stripe indicates a trooper. So do I

Leave of the red stripe and use modern markings.

Use the rogue trader markings (including the equipment markings on the sholder pad).

Just put a red stripe down the front of my marines?

?I guess i should post this elsewhere?

If you go Space Sharks, you better not try to ally with Mantis Warriors or Lamenters though, which will be like, 0.03% of the people you play with!
