Hi,

++EDIT++
New pics with the improvements I've performed on the model. I've reshaped the thighs a little, adjusted the hips, and added lots of detail onto the torso and arms. I've also brought out a Tau plasma rifle for compatibility testing.

I've neglected to mention this, but I am planning to have this mass produced as a white metal miniature (I sell spaceships as ZandrisIV Miniatures already). My target price point is GBP10.00, and the final model will have arms and legs that are joined into a single piece to ease construction. There will be a variety of arm and leg poses, and the feet and hands will be seperate for modularity.

Comments and criticisms appreciated!

++EDIT END++

Here's some pictures of something I've been working on for the past few months. Normally I sculpt spaceships, but I've always wanted to do a "proper" anime-styled battlesuit in 28mm scale. This is the result. The model looks incomplete, but that's because it is meant to be cast up, and the missing parts are duplicated from the other side.

Size comparison with some SM Scouts:

It is very nearly complete, I'm currently adding some plating to the upper arm to make it not look so boring. Also considering shaving down the thighs a little.

It turns out it isn't as complete as I'd hoped it was. I've done some more mods to it, and will probably be making more. I will re-post the topic when I am done.

Currently done:

1. Slimmed down the thighs.
2. Repositioned the hip joints to make posing easier.
3. Added an armour plate to the upper arm.

I like this a lot. My only suggestion is that there seem to be a lot of large undetailed areas (the chest, thighs, and area between kneecaps and feet). Some panel lines or “gubbins” along those areas might be a good idea.

One other small thing, the head looks WAY too much like a Cyclone Riders helmet from Robotech\Invid. You might consider changing it some.

@Andrew

There are actually panel lines and detail on the thighs and calf areas already, it's just that the camera isn't picking them up very well. I'm adding details here and there to break up some of the other areas, so that won't be a problem when I'm through. However, as a warning, I am one of those types that absolutely hates greeblies coming out of the wazoo, so some people will find my stuff "undetailed" regardless.

I like the helmet as it is, and I see no reason to change it. I've checked out the Mospaeda helmet (Robotech is mutant series that had no right being born), and it doesn't look anything at all like it. If anything, the current head bears more of a resemblance to the helmets worn by the JSDF in Ghost in the Shell (though without the sensor holes) or the Halo EVA helmet, both of which inspired the current design.

Looks much better!

I didn't want to mention before that the original looked a bit like a large, robotic, pregnant woman (especially with the green nipples!) but thankfully that is no longer the case.

It looks like it is much more of a 'stand and shoot' (Broadside-esque) type of suit since it has quite a bulky frame, so I'm not sure if that was what you planned. If not, I'd recommend thinning it down a little, or perhaps giving the armour plating a more segmented feel. Otherwise it has very good proportions and nothing I can see looks like it's out of place.

Oh the whole it's a great looking model and I'd love to see one painted and posed. Excellent work so far!

I actually really like this. All it needs now is more detailing on the legs and the chest.

Keep up the good work! I look forward to seeing finished product!

@ Noble713 - I agree. It's about time someone made decent GW scale battlesuits/powerarmour/robot/mecha.

@ ZandrisIV - he's looking really beefy. It would be cool if he had a close combat weapon... like a glaive... or a pike... or a sword... mmm scimitar... falx... or the sword that the Uruk-Hai use ... those things look menacing.

Great work with a good balance of detail parts and smooth areas to paint.

I was thinking Yu Jing Guijia at first, but there are enough differences.

Thanks for the comments guys! To reply to you individually:

@Blightdron
It's pretty much complete at the moment. While I may still add some small details here and there, I won't be doing anything major to it anymore. I don't want to overload it with details as I'm going for the "clean" look.

@Noble713
It will be put into production. I will post on the News & Rumours page when it is complete.

@Frantz & Edward
The melee weapon I have planned for it at the moment is a piston-stake mounted on a shield (think Front Mission or Altiesen). I am not too keen with giving it a more archaic weapon such as a sword or glaive because it clashes with the high-tech look of the suit. Power glove-type arms would be definitely possible.

To be honest, if you had this miniature, you could easily arm it with a CC weapon taken off a marine kit and it would fit right in. Most 40k weapons are pretty oversized, and the hands on this model are about the same size as terminator hands.

@Steelmage

I have absolutely no idea how you came to that conclusion, since the Shocktrooper is a top-heavy model with weeny legs, whereas my suit is more of a middle-heavy (pot-bellied) model. Plus the detailing style is completely different.

@Dal'yth Dude

Yeah, the Yu-Jing Guijia has a similiar look to what I was aiming for. I had really high hopes for that model, but when I found out it was nearly unposeable (and had a goofy pose and weapons to boot), I decided to make my own. I don't like the Guijia's head though, so it looks very different on mine.

If you guys want my sources of inspiration, just use Google Image Search to look for Landmate and ARM-Suit and you will get a load of hits and images.
