Is he as ugly as he looks on the GW site? I find it difficult to find a redeeming quality about this model. I've always hated ultramarine command color schemes, but this guy seems especially bad, especially the mouth-open head and how he's holding his bolter like he's trying to do the action movie one-handed-shell-racking thing, except bolters aren't pump-action.

ug i hate him hate him with all of my hate what's worse is the sargent from that box he only has a chainsword so if im right thats

1 attack in close combat
no shooting

I would rather take an extra marine and yes sicaris does look stupid holding his silly bolter like he's rambo

those two are the only reason i don't buy another Aobr

He's holding the bolter by the front grip and resting it on his hip. The bolter and arm stick out to the side so with a bit of care they can be removed.
As for the mouth open, well he's a command figure and as such gives orders.
The sword on the other side includes the lower half of the right arm and can more easily be replaced by any lower right arm and he comes with a unique backpack.
It's a great figure with plenty of detail given it's snap together nature and is still customisable.

My AOBR sergeant has a power fist and bolt pistol; he's easier to convert than the captain.

Erm...

Captains have 3 Attack minimum in CC. Plus, Um, He's carrying a Bolter. They'res you're shooting.

I don't think he looks bad.

Actually, 3, 4 on the charge, bolt pistol is mandatory wargear and as such does not need to be modeled, so if he has a chainsword he gets the +1a for 2 CCW bonus, and since sarges are 2 attacks base...

I'm not that fond of the weapon combination on the captain, but I guess it's completely okay to say his sword is a relic blade, which, being a two-handed weapon, makes up for CC while a bolter with possible hellfire rounds is quite useful against MCs. And I like his banner backpack.

About the sergeant: That guy has a huge holster on his hip. I guess there's a pistol in it. I don't really get why models need to have their weapons up in the air all the time; a holster with a pistol grip says "he has a pistol" and in my opinion you could even say that there's a plasma pistol in there, whatever you want.

Meh. I like them both. I converted my Sergeant so he has a Stormbolter. And I like the Captain.

I (surprisingly enough) must agree with H.B.M.C. I like both those models. I haven't painted the Captain (I paint slowly and usually save HQs as a special treat to myself), but I liked the sergeant more after painting him up. I didn't convert either miniature as I just proxy their wargear. My gaming group is fairly relaxed about that - luckily.

I hate him with all my heart I think someone should start a petition to have all copies of him destroyed, and erased from the archives. Forever.

I think it's a great model. He isn't bald though, leading to cries of 'hairesy' during games.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

I don't use mine because I have conversions of Sicarus and Kantor from the marine commander sets. He's still not that bad of a model though. I think the only complaints really is the weapon load he has isn't an "optimal" load but hellfire rounds in the bolter isn't bad for a character who's going to be running with a unit of Sternguard.

Thanks!...I cheated and dipped him.

Was aiming for an Ivory look, and came out dirty white.

I think I'll keep him.

Where did you get that spiky thing that you put in place of the banner? Because I HATE the banner.

just done arm swaps, changed head and banner and added more detail to it.
only problem is the cloak is far too plain.

I like the AoBR captain alright. Well detailed and for a snap together model, pretty impressive (but not as cool as the Warboss!)

However, I just don't have a use for another captain. Already have more HQ models than I can possibly use.

I got two of the captains, and both back banners ended up on my terminator sarges for my fleshtearers. Because it was a cool banner that needed a home.

Kragura nailed it. Just swaped the banner and the halo while making an Inquisitor lord out of the 2nd AoBR Termie Sgt I had.
