If one was running 9 or so birds full of melta vets, what would be a fluffy support vehicle(s)?

I say Hydras.

Go with 9 hydras and 9 Vendettas.

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

Hydra- Airfield AA defense
Hell Hound Variant that spits chemicals?- Fire/ Rescue at the airfield

Can't think of much more within the codex. IA's Vulture and Marauders would be good support, but MBT/ IFV's don't really go with Air Cav IMO.

Well, adding anything else makes it no longer AirCav, generally. If anything, we should just call all lists like this "Vet Spam" to make life easier.

Second this... Absolutely Manticore, its an amazing unit.

I'd go Manticore/Manticore/ 3x hydraflak

I like playing Vet Spam lists. Kill their transports and the guys will quickly follow. No platoons also means they wont have ANY staying power once outside of their vehicles. My hellhounds love flaming an entire 130 point vet unit that just disembarked from their destroyed transport.

Steve Perry.... STEEEEEEVE PERRY.... I SHOULD'VE BEEN GOOOONE!

Good luck destroying all their transports easily. Between smoke and proper cover, they should have some solid longevity.

Deathstrike. Can shoot from far enough away as to remain off board and keep with the Air Cav theme.

Or vulture/vendetta as previously mentioned.

Deathstrikes, because its hilarious to ICBM someone's army.

Or be more serious, and run any old artillery/hydras.

I collect:
Guard - 2k of mostly infantry
DA - 2k of deathwing, 2k of other bits (no vehicles)
Sisters - mostly converted/proxy because I'm waiting for therange to go plastic.
Tau - 2k with no riptides because I can.

If you want to stay with air calv theme I suggest manticores or what you wanted. I would take some tanks so you could have some anti-infantry firepower. I would take the plasma cannon one for that but hellhounds do the same thing for cheaper. Your choice really. you have tank hunting no need for more.

Go with manticores. You have the air cav, and the manticore's help with the Napalm in the morning smell.

On the fluff side, add in MOOs to your CCSs and call in the hurt from Landing Zone X-Ray. However this doesn't really fit in with what CCSs are usually doing in airborne lists...

I would agree with the Hydra call. You've got a lot of anti-tank in the melta guns, so round out the list with some nice, solid dakka from a brace of Hydras.

Alternatively "drop" sentinels? (either the proper Elysian drop sentinels or some scouties fluffed up to the job)

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!
