Everywhere I'm not supposed to be.

So I've succumbed to the 40k bug...some of you probably know from seein my semi-worthless posts around here.

Started up an IG army a couple months ago. Bought the Cadian Bforce set, then another, then a command squad (company command), three Russ', three Chimeras, and another Sentinel to finish of the basic fast attack. Oh, and a buddy gave me a heavy weapons team. Pictures follow of the first box set, Russ and Chimera. I'll get some more recent ones up once I actually get a little time off work. I wanna apologize in advance in case the images come out god awful huge and the site doesn't automatically resize...

Everything I had at the time of the pictures being taken...I've almost doubled (tripled with some things) the size of my force since then...bout two weeks ago...

Note: You'll notice some metal figures that started to get painted before being primed... Lesson: Don't paint while consuming alcoholic beverages...

*Edit: Sorry for the bad pic quality...it was late

Very nice begginings and a solid color scheme. Some of the pics are a little blurry to tell much, but from what I can see, you are doing great!

It looks very nice, very clean (Grr.) Anyway, I can't tell if it's from the pictures, but everything could do with a nice Badab Black wash.

Yes. Everything.

Anyway, looking great for a start

Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum.
No soldier's paid to kick against His powers.
We laughed - knowing that better men would come,
And greater wars: when each proud fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags.

Welcome to 40k

Nice, solid colour scheme there. Could do with a wash of either badab black or devlan mud.

Sounds like your building up a massive Cadian army.

Have fun

Cheers,

Jack.

This is insanity at it's finest.

Yeah, I'm going through and teachin myself this whole washing business...Anyone have any pointers? Seems like I really gotta go over it a few times to make any real difference.

And Blight, of course it's going to be massive! How else would you do an IG force?

Again, sorry for the poor picture quality

its pretty good tbh, i concur with the drinking thing, tried it earlier, my marines were not impressed, with washes, its just the more the merrier, lather it on and go over crevasses a few times (i know how dirty that sounded btw )

Just a man, standing in front of a paint pot, trying to remeber if I rinsed boltgun metal in it.

Quick "update".

By "update" I mean I work nonstop but I might be able to squeeze in some time for a few updated pictures tomorrow/later today.

Also, with washes: I took the whole "more is merrier" advice and it looks a little overwhelming. Any advice on how I can make it a bit more subtle?

Everywhere I'm not supposed to be.

A little over two weeks since my last update/work on my Guardsmen...it's sad...

So time for an update! (no pictures just yet, need new batteries for the camera)
I've assembled and primed a second Russ, began assembly on another Chimera. Finished assembly on a second Sentinal, but I have a slight problem with the pose. I wanted one of those "dynamic, one leg up in the air because it's running head-on towards the enemy line" poses. The problem is that with one leg up in the air, the weight balance is drastically thrown off to one side and gravity takes over and pushes the non-supported side down to where the other foot is pretty much on the ground. This leaves me with a dynamic "oh no, I've just taken a massive blow to my flank and I'm falling over" pose... Any advice on how I can prevent this from happening once I break it apart and start again?

Also I have two Valks waiting to be assembled and used for shuttling command squads and stormtroopers around the battlefield and poppin vehicles too, of course.

For the stormtroopers I'm using a standard squad, a little converting using the vox-caster backpack for the hot-shot lasgun, and Elysian drop troop heads. All this just because, as cool as they look, I just think that Kasrkins look a tad too fancy for rugged, covert-type troops.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Woo-hoo picture time!

A little bit of what I've been workin on and the obligatory workstation pictures.

@Cougar: Haha, yeah I've got a few pots takin up quite a bit of space...about 1/3 of em belong to a friend of mine who left em there. His fiance doesn't approve of his hobby...

Update! Forgeworld order has been placed! Elysian drop troop heads, Elysian weapons pack (to be converted into hot-shot lasguns), and the twin-linked lascannons to convert my Valks into Vendettas are on there way! Now to just finish up the last few guardsmen, two Russ', and two Chimeras...

What are you gonna do for the bases?

Armies:
(CSM/HH) - Iron Warriors; Death Guard; World Eaters; Night Lords
IG - Vestfalian Expeditionary
Force (Solar Auxilia - HH)
SM - Blades of Inaros (Homebrew)
DE - Kabal of Ouroboros

Ohhh...bases... For the horde of guardsmen, I'm probably not gonna get too crazy with it, just too many to do. For the Valk/Vendettas, I picked up a 1/35 scale brick wall set from Tamiya that I would like to use to create a ruined building look, as if they're flying over a bombed out city or town. My next planned Sentinel base is gonna have it stepping on a Tau pathfinder, just to spite my friend who plays em.

So I got tired of gluing tank tread together and decided to wander off to other things, like converting a MOO. I really don't like the GW model, looks a bit too "prissy". So I took a the tank commander body, legs, arms, and one of the heads, slapped on a slightly altered vox-caster backpack, and began work on an arm mounted targeting computer (I'm not gonna lie, stole the idea from someone on here!) Here's a couple of pics of him so far. Need to finish up the computer, then base and paint him.

Looking good. Good luck with the Vendetta. Just remember to leave the engines unglued until it all painted up, otherwise its hard to get your brush in there. Also your MOO is looking a little familiar

Haha, ya caught me... I thought the computer on the arm looked pretty sharp so I jacked the idea. Still workin on a primary antenna to replace the one I snipped off, just didn't like the way it looked...

Everywhere I'm not supposed to be.

So it's been awhile...again...damn job and needing money and what not...

Anywho, after painting so many of the same model, I grow tired of Guardsmen. So I've already come up with my next army (I'm still gonna finish up the mess I've got on my table and post pictures as I go)! I'm currently reading the Horus Heresy novels, and I think a Pre-heresy Luna Wolves/Sons of Horus army would be a pretty solid experiance. So my question here is this: who knows of a great, easy way to "stud" the shoulder guards? Or if anyone has a mold made of it by any sort of dumbluck, PM me ASAP.

I know, I know, I keep making pictureless posts... But my Forgeworld items showed up today, bout time! I should have some time to do some painting and get started on the stormtrooper conversions. Can't wait to get this ball rollin again...
