Im not a fantasy player, so I dont really keep up with the goings on in WHFB, so this might be a stupid question, but whatever happened to Brettonians? Are they just a really unpopular army choice? It seems even 'bad' armies like Orcs & Goblins are often discussed but you hardly ever hear about Brettonians anymore... whats the Dilly-o?

Because they tend to be very 'point and click' they don't really need much discussion on tactics.

And because they are preatty point and click the tactics used to beat them are pretty simple.

We have 15-20 tourneys in Brisbane and the surrounding area each year and I can't recall there ever not being a bretonnian player in any of them. Usually 1 in 10 players will be brets

I would guess single minded, spam cavalry.

Position Unit
Charge Unit
Flank with other Unit

Thats my guess anyway.

Oh and maybe Green Knight spam in games with woods.

I was under the impression Bretts were based around cavalry.

it is, I was agreeing with him. What I mean was

'I *was* under the impression, as in 'oh, right, thats what I thought'

tone is so hard to convey on the intranets

Meh.

Brets don't really need tactics, or strategies. Hit a unit, move on. The Point and Click style they use can sometimes draw away players.

Plus, I'm not in to painting Bret's.

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

I don't think anyone is into painting Brets and that's why you don't see that many armies compared to others. Although the Pegasus Knights are a cool concept.

I love the whole knight concept and their story and all, but I just can't get over all the colors
in the army! Makes me nauseous.

I think playing Bret's are a bit more nuanced than what most people here think, but this may be because the proliferation of non breaking armies around now the point and click way of playing doesn't really work any more.

Not only that, as other people said, Brets are both difficult and tedious to paint and have an old army book. So even the round table bretonnia site is pretty slow right now.

They don't have to be straight forward, but the way I play Brettonians would probably see my army limited.

I'd focus around 25 Man units of Grail Reliquae.

I run a 32 man unit of skirmishing bowmen. surronded by as many Knights as I can cram into the point allowance. At 2250 points, I take 3 scroll caddys to shut down my opponents magic phase. The army is pretty one dimensional, but I approach the hobby from a visual aspect, and Brets are my favorite models in the game.

Eh they are pretty simple and boring. Ive been tooling around with the idea of a questing knight army. High armour, high str, lots of attacks. Large charge range. Doesent sound like a bad idea in practice.

At any rate I do play them and they are very very boring. Now im starting wood elves so I can get my teeth kicked in when i screw something up ^ ^

Never say die! Never surrender!

ive just started collecting brets, mainly as something away from heavy armour and vast fields of guns (im an IG player)
im not going to pasint each knight totally individualistic. But swap and change from about 4 main colours and just have a nicely styled sort of army based on one fortress/ city

However i am still looking forward to playing. if they are as "point and click" as they sound then it'll be a good break in army for me.
