Looking at procuring one of these next week to speed up the painting of my IG army and Planetstrike Terrain.

I need two bits of advice/critique on the thing.

1. How well does it work with Foundation Paints? They seem a good bit thicker in consistency, and I'm worried the reccomended water-paint ratio (the little lines on the bottle) might leave it thick enough to bugger the pistol.

2. Do I need to stir the paint in the bottle to mix it, or does it have a lid suitable for shaking?

Thanks in advance! (oh, and please keep it about the Spray Gun. Don't have the time to go looking for better bits of kit. This is accesible for me!)

One of the simpler answers is don't. Theres an article around here somewhere about not gettig the GW one. It's not a spray gun, it's a toy...

There are much better air brushes out there for a much better price.

Could you link the article? I find that the GW one works very well for the price, and I had considered getting other airbrushes.

A couple of brands do Airbrushes that are better than the GW toy for around the same price. Particularly Paasche, Sparmax and Aztek.

(I work for the largest Hobby retailer in Oz so I do have some actual knowledge about it.)

Do yourself a favour, and get a mini compresssor as well. The compressed air cans get expensive fairly quickly.

As for the Thickness of the paint, you want it to be about the thickness of milk, just a little thicker than water.

the spray thing is meant to use foundation paints if you use the other paints you have to use half the amount of water.
i normally shake just make sure to cover the little hole on the bottle.
it works ok but the proppelent freezes like heck!

Its over priced crap.

Badger makes a lil cheapie paint sprayer that does the same thing- its 8$ vs the 30$ for the GW gimmick.

Im more a proponent of a full on air brush. But, thats not an option for everyone. (full starter kits can be found for 100$ or so).

And, a tip to make the propellant cans last longer- keep them in a bowl of warm water. Cold cans arent as efficient.
