why are the gamesworkshop models so overpriced

Simple.

This is because running all those Hobby Centres across the globe costs money.

Don't like it, don't play it. OR play another game, and wonder why every other major games company out there (yes PP and Rackham, I'm looking at you) charges a similar amount to GW for their models.....

Also why buy from GW stores at all,Ebay and Maelstrom are cheaper.

Sometimes the GW store has a certain charm or access to things you can't find anywhere else (yet), such as collectors range items.

People always say to buy from maelstrom but I prefer the GW site It's not that much more overpriced and it supports the company

I call it marketing, that is my guess into the "reason". Branding is a very powerful tool, and GW wields it like a drunken cave-man being guided by a pack of autonomous (and seemingly sentient) robots.

I buy GW stuff because I like some of their minis, and that is pretty much the one and only reason. As soon as I can sculpt at 28mm I will have basically no need for any of their products.

I don't really trust buying from ebay or online trading via a forums. Seems like it could go down really badly and I don't have money to risk like that.

I buy from TheWarStore.com , Nearby Hobby Shops, or if nothing else fails, GW store.

I just bookmarked Maelstrom. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! If worldwide shipping is free after 10 pounds it is a budget stretcher for sure. The one thing I checked was only 60% of the cost it was here.
