So is the Valkyrie supposed to be part of your army, and thus the same paint scheme, or does it belong to the navy, and is likely painted differently? It's a fluff question, but I'm curious what you think.

It depends if your regiment is a purely skybourne regiment then they would have Valks/Vens as part of there standard armoury, then therefore be part of the regiment and carry the same color scheme/insignia.

If not its your discretion, alot of people have painted the bottom of the valk grey/tanned brown etc to match the color of the sky then painted the top in there regimental colors.

When you give total control to a computer, it’s only a matter of time before it pulls a Skynet on you and you’re running for your life.

It could go either way. It depends on how closely you feel the attached valkyrie should be tied up in the unit structure. It also depends on whether you want to paint up something matching your army or if you want a nice centerpiece in a totally differnt scheme.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Valkyries are operated by the Imperial Navy and, as such, most of them are in standard naval garb.

However, when a squadron of Valkyries are attached to support a Guard army for a longer duration (such as a long ground based campaign) it is common for the crew to alter the appearence of their ship to either something similar to or exactly the same as what the Guard use for both practical reasons and to signify their alligence to a specific army, so to speak.

Armies:
(CSM/HH) - Iron Warriors; Death Guard; World Eaters; Night Lords
IG - Vestfalian Expeditionary
Force (Solar Auxilia - HH)
SM - Blades of Inaros (Homebrew)
DE - Kabal of Ouroboros

Testor's Panzer Gray FS36076 looks $h1t hot on all my Valks, and Vendy's. Try it out. the rest of my guard is colored different. When i was in the service, all our vehicles were green or desert tan, with the helos from the aviation guys painted greyish-black

infilTRAITOR is right, in the codex, it does state that during long campaigns, the valkyries will be redone to match the army.
The Valkyrie, in my opinion, would look a lot better in the same colours as the rest of your force. My Valkyrie, The Javelina, is
done in the same red-browns as the rest of my tanks, and it pulls the force together visually.

Personally, for army men at least I think asthetically or however you spell that, armies look best when they're all uniform, or at the very least have something that ties them together real well. I can understand why valks or other more specialized vehicles might be a different color from a fluff perspective, but on the table they would just look better if they match the rest of your army

The way I like to think about it is with todays armies helicopters. How many Apache, Lynx or Blackhawks do you see in regular army camo schemes even though they're part of the same organisation?

I don't think I've ever seen a Lynx or Chinook in DPM and I doubt I'll ever see an Apache in ACU.

I did mine in navy colours but with subtle stripes/hints in army colours so it looks a part of it even though it's a different colour.
