Well I was sitting here flicking through Dakka Dakka, sipping my lovely Whisky, and wondered to my self,
I wonder what everyone on Dakka likes in whisky terms.
So mine being Jamesons Irish whisky,
What is yours ?
Cheers

It is the 3rd Millennium. For more than a hundred months Games Workshop has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Nottingham. It is the foremost of wargames by the will of the neckbeards, and master of a million tabletops by the might of their inexhaustible wallets. It is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with business strategies from the early Industrial Revolution Age. It is the Carrion Lord of the wargaming scene for whom a thousand veteran players are sacrificed every day, so that it may never truly die. Yet even in its deathless state, GW continues its eternal vigilance. Mighty battleforce starter-sets cross the online-store-infested miasma of the internet, the only route between distant countries, their way lit by a draconian retail trade-agreement, the legal manifestation of the GW's will. Vast armies of lawyers give battle in GW's name on uncounted websites. Greatest amongst its soldiers are the Guardians of the IP, the Legal Team, bio-engineered super-donkey-caves. Their comrades in arms are legion: the writing team and countless untested rulebooks, the ever vigilant redshirts, and the writers of White Dwarf, to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from other games, their own incompetence, Based Chinaman - and worse. To support Games Workshop in such times is to spend untold billions. It is to support the cruelest and most dickish company imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of sales discounts and Warhammer Fantasy Battle, for so much has been dropped, never to be re-published again. Forget the promise of cheaper digital content and caring about the fanbase, for in the GW HQ there is only profit-seeking, Space Marines and Sigmarines. There is no fun amongst the hobby shops, only an eternity of raging and spending, and the laughter of former employees who left GW to join better companies. |

Bushmills aged Irish. Neat with a splash of water (about a teaspoon or less).
Jamesons for a second choice.
Can't handle Scotch (too harsh) less than 21 years old and single-malted (but hyper expensive).
Bourbon is like petrol (gasoline) to me.

Fancy scotch is great, I don't really have any expertise on this but a sip of smoky scotch takes the edge off of anything for me.
Not my drink of choice, water is more better than anything IMHO, and I simply cannot handle most whiskey as it tends to make me pretty agro. I think the problem is that I mix cheaper whiskey with soda any time I drink any, and sugar always makes me a dare-devil drunk.
Smirnoff ice is utterly rank to me on that same note. BLLAARRRGGHHhhhhh!!!

My preferred Scotch
Beautiful, and a fantastically crisp finish. Drink it on the rocks, or with the merest hint of distilled water if no ice is available.
From the distillery website
Whisky Promotional blurb wrote:Triple distilled and matured in American bourbon oak; the whisky is finished in Spanish oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks.
The result: a Lowland single malt whisky rich with dark fruits, thick butterscotch, roasted hazelnuts and the signature smooth, delicate, Auchentoshan taste

Southern Comfort for me. Tastes like candy. Mix with Dr. Pepper, half and half. Always to be kept in the freezer.
Second would be Wild Turkey American Honey. Good stuff, take it straight. Again, always to be kept in the freezer.

Honestly, I don't really like whiskey. Crown Royal is okay in Black Tooth Grins, but other than that, I vastly prefer other beverages, like tequila.

Grants Sherry cast on cold rocks (literally rocks! I have a set of granite 'ice' cubes - they don't water it down.)
Failing that any nice tipple, I'm not to fussy, just not cheap paint-stripper cak.
Or for something sweeter - JD or jim beam, equal parts with disaronno, toppe dup with coke, half a lime squeezed in, then rubbed around the rim of the glass - mmmmmmmmmm
