Subject: Putting together a SM tactical squad

I've been a bit lost on where to start since returning to the game, Having looked at the codex now i think the best option is well to start with a Tactical squad.
At the moment i'm playing mostly 500/750 point games but this will rise shortly to 1000/1500 as were back up to speed with the rules.
Mini's I have over 100 of the plactic mini's from RTB01 http://www.solegends.com/citrt/rtb01marines.htm however they only have missile launcher (and ugly ones at that, tho i see ther is some love for them here) and flamers.
A few metal of the relavent mini's that I also have 3x mk 7 tacticals and 4 heavy weapons (without the weapons as they haven't turned up so far)
It seems that now plasma and melta's are in and i'm sadly lacking on them, I've also purchased a load of magnets to be able to change weapons.
So what should my first tactical squad be armed with.

Right now, Tactcal Squads of 10 men, get a free flamer and free missile laucher upgrade. Anything other than those 2 items will cost. ML marines also now come with a sidearm as standard, so they can shoot a smidge even if they move.
Stick a tac squad with ML in a rhino, and you get a poor man tank.. with some Bolter shooting when you get close and get out.

2+2=5 for sufficiently large values of 2.

Heavy Bolters and Multi-Meltas are also free upgrades for a 10 man Tac squad.

Well this is my point, if i keep this squad as ML + Flamer i'm going to get taken apart by anything with a tank/tank-like.
Wouldn't a MM be better? or even a LC for the points?

MMs are nice. I'm not a fan of the LC on a Tactical Squad personally. Generally though, your tactical squads should be moving/riding around quite a bit, so any shots you get from your heavy are bonus anyway.

Well i'm still playing small point games so need some decent heavy weapons. I guess it's less important in a larger game.
