Why, oh why do we need another Dune movie? The David Lynch version was okay, the Syfy miniseries was a little better. How about trying some other awesome sci-fi series, like Peter F. Hamilton's The Night's Dawn Trilogy? Or if he must venture into the Dune Universe, how about making movies of the Butlerian Jihad trilogy? Those were some great books, given that they were written by the son from his father's notes.

Berg sees the story more as an epic adventure. "[The book] was much more muscular and adventurous, more violent and possibly even a little bit more fun," Berg said. "

Sorry, I don't remember a damn thing that was "fun" about Dune. Epic books, but it ain't freaking Captain Kirk on Planet Miami Beach...

-"Wait a minute.....who is that Frazz is talking to in the gallery? Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG

Agreed. I had to take a Black Beauty to stay awake through David Lynch's version, and even then I was so bored I was fidgeting the whole time, and not from the upper.

This movie had better totally annihilate my sense of reality or it fails... not much more to say really.

Good god. Another one? I hated Lynch's version (Sting, why?!). The miniseries was actually quite enjoyable but the second one bored me to tears (and the changing of key cast members, while unavoidable, was annoying!)

The only way I see this going is a complete butchering of the book and making it something akin to the new Star Trek movie by substituting deep plot points for special effects and action.

Armies:
(CSM/HH) - Iron Warriors; Death Guard; World Eaters; Night Lords
IG - Vestfalian Expeditionary
Force (Solar Auxilia - HH)
SM - Blades of Inaros (Homebrew)
DE - Kabal of Ouroboros

Now there is a movie we can get behind.

It doesn't sound like it is a done deal, just something he is interested in doing. Let us save our rage until it is needed.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

I'm pretty sure this is more PlayboyTV than SyFy.

I like the Lynch movie a whole lot. It's quite different to the book, but it looks gorgeous and succeeds on its own terms as a hero's journey.

I didn't make it all the way through the miniseries, I didn't even make it all the way through the first book. While it was a lot more faithful to the books, that's all it had going for it. It was quite amateurish and generally very ugly to look at. It offered nothing that couldn't be gained by reading the books again.

I'm not surprised they're having another crack at a Dune movie. It's a major work with strong brand recognition, and the last Dune movie was a long time ago now. It probably won't be any good, but that's only because most films are pretty bad.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Adam Smith, who must have been some kind of leftie or something.

What bothered me the most about the miniseries was the constant question: Why do the Sadaukar have mega berets sewn into their onesy?

The Sardaukar in the video games look way cooler. They look like IG Stormtroopers with robes over their legs.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Don't even remind me of those slowed birdy walker things. Oh, my beautiful Harkonnen tanks, smashed by the overpowered artillery.

I for one am excited about the prospects of a new dune movie(s). I would love to see it get a budget on par with LoTR.

I really disliked all of the changes in the Lynch movie. Especially the rediculous sound weapons he pulled out of his ass.

oddly enough, when i first read the book, i kept waiting for the sound weapons, but cooler, cause it was a book
