Subject: What 80's cartoons would you like to see made into films?

What with Transformers and GI Joe having been given the new and shiny Hollywood treatment and Thundercats rumoured to be in the works, I was wondering what cartoons from the eighties people would like to see made into new films (or even better, if you know of any that are being made into films).
I would like to see Centurions made into a summer blockbuster. Would be cool to see the high tech power armour they wear re-vamped with all the equipment that can attach to it. So long as they didn't look like they did in the cartoon, guys in leotards with Lego stuck to them.

I never saw the Inhumanoids cartoon but the comic was good.
Marshal Bravestarr would transfer well IMO.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

Wait, wait, wait! A bit?!??
Mighty Orbots!
I also second Inhumanoids and Thundarr and his fabulous Sun Sword. (although he does wield a lightsaber)
Smurfs, CGI with the right blend of kiddie BS, sense of humor and charm. It's a winner! Just think, we could all laugh again at how much action Smurfette gets.
In all seriousness don't think for a moment every single one of these mentions isn't in some stage of development, somewhere.
Also, I do second the Inhumanoids (just for its potential). Sadly, I don't think Thundarr would work.
Johnny Quest
Space Ghost
Herculoids
I think these are all from the 60's actually.

I saw the thread title and immediately thought of Centurions, but that was said in the OP dammit. I'd like Jem and Holograms, but I'm probably alone in that.
Cheese Elemental wrote:He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Even if it is a bit homoerotic.
What do you mean even if it is a bit homoerotic? A He-Man movie would be awesome because it would be so brilliantly homoerotic. It probably wouldn't be Top Gun gay, but it'd be close.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Jonny Quest is in pre-production. Zac Ephron is supposed to star as Jonny (no, seriously) and The Rock as Race Bannon.

Im with Fraz on Robotech though, seeing it done with decent CGI from Macross through Mospedia would be something I'd pay to see in the theaters. Just tone down Minmei's annoyance factor. Get Ed Zwick or someone to direct it with an old school James Cameron style.

Visionaries would get my vote.
Regarding He Man, the recent series in 04 was actually pretty amazing tbh
If they did He Man like they did in that. (Skeletor being a skilled warrior for example, actual storyline worth a damn) then I'd be well up for it. It certainly buried the 80's version, and the less said about the mid 90's He Man the better.

I'm gonna have to look on the net at Thundarr though, I've never heard of it before. I'm in huge agreement to the post about M.A.S.K! How could I have forgotton that in my original post. IMO if GI Joe does reasonably well worldwide I can see it being a near certainty that M.A.S.K would get the green light. How cool would the CGI be for the villian's hellicopter/jet . But yeah, dump the egg robot or at least have it die a very unpleasent death in the film. I think the truck was my favourite, probably because it was the one toy I really wanted, but my parents wouldn't buy it for me as it was one of the more expensive vehicles. Second fav was the green motorbike that changed into a hellicopter. Dunno why, maybe because I'm bored at work and a little bit twisted in the head, but I'd love to see a Gummie Bear film, but in the same vein as Traffic with the Gummie Bears illegally dealing in gummie berry juice and the police cracking down on them. The scene where Gruffy gets killed in a shoot out with SWAT would be the best bit.... Think I've been watching too much Fur TV .

I would have said Thundarr, but I watched an episode a while ago and I thought it was basically Conan the Barbarian+Chewbacca+Light Sabre+Escape from LA. Just too much going on for my tast.
MASK would be cool, but it would feel too much like Transformers.
