I agree, I used to be that way ages ago but managed to make a couple of friends. After a while you'll make a bunch a not be all that worried about it. What helps if you're like that in crowds is to try and focus on your friends to try and sort of ignore everyone else a bit.

The key thing to remember I guess is if they don't really like you you've lost nothing, if they do you've made a friend. Don't need to push yourself to do things you don't want to to get them to like you. If you do, they're not the type of people who'd like you in the first place anyway.
