Okay, sorry for a crappy thread title but heres my question.

What are some possible color schemes I could do for space wolves or at least would make sense if I used the space wolves codex coming out this october.

The gray/pale blue scheme they have is alright, but looks boring to paint.

All space wolves are greyblue. period.

however you could make a custom chapter and have them as "countsas" space wolves

I wouldn't get in trouble for using a different color scheme using a chapter-specific codex in something like a tournament would I?

just say they are an offshoot chapter, or what ever they call it when new chapters are made, of SW

There are some official SW successor chapters, there's nothing stopping you creating another. Think up a vaguely similar name, e.g. Cosmic Wolves, Space Foxes, whatever, they still use all the SW rules and fluff and look, they just use a different coloured armour. I can't see even the fussiest tourney complaining about that.

There were some pretty marines for sale here a while back - go with that colour scheme, only do puppies instead of hearts!

I just did one or two google image searches for fantasy wolves/wolf art/indian wolf art and that type of thing.
There are some pretty good 'jumping off points'.
Dark blues/purples and lightning strikes seem possible!

I'm currently painting up some Space Wolves and I'm using Codex Grey and Fortress Grey, I'm not into the blue/grey scheme doesn't really suit them
