Ok so this topic is gonna seem real predictable and cliche coming right after a topic where I trumpeted my love of constitutional monarchy. Anyway, I am just wondering if any of you Brits knew of any good companies that are more keen on hiring Americans. I would really love to come and live in Britain for a bit, I am a big fan of....well everything! I love being in the UK and could find nothing to be a greater joy than spending a few good years there. I know it will be extremely tough at the moment with the recession and all, but if you guys could gimme some pointers on what companies to look for and maybe even how to expedite the visa process I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

How is it they live in such harmony - the billions of stars - when most men can barely go a minute without declaring war in their minds about someone they know.

What kind of industry are you interested in working in?
As well as that what qualifications do you have and what is your employment history?

Information on work permits:
http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply/infs/inf13workpermitholders
I am not sure if they are accepting more applicants on that permit any more though.
Here is a list of all the visas you can apply for though:
http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply/infs/
As for companies... if you have any offices of global companies in your area, you might be able to ask them about working for them overseas. They will then help with visas etc too.
But since unemployment is rising constantly here, I would not hold out too much hope at this period in time I am afraid :(

I don't think it's like particular companies *want* to hire Americans specifically. It depends on the skills match-up to the job.
Obviously there's no language barrier but that is true for lots of ex-colonies and well-educated Europeans.
My sister-in-law is American and got her visa as a spouse. She found work at a UK university where her academic background was relevant and her experience within the US educational system was useful for helping to bring US students into the UK system.
