Ok, This is probably going to sound like an extreamly simple question but it's one that became a big issue last night. When your SpaceMarines Disembark from a Drop pod. Is the Disembark Zone two inches from the doors of the model or is it Two inches from the Circular base as if the doors never opened?

Simple. . .
No. Not exactly.

Generally, people do not count the doors/petals as part of the hull.

So the base would be closer to right, in that regard.

I would agree with kirsanth, the point of disembarkation should be from the hull regardless of how its modeled or the size of the doors. Same should go with any transport models.

It depends on how you want to play. 99% of people ignore the doors for all purposes and disembark from the actual hull of the drop pod. The other 1% will try and be TFG and do that. They will then try to get extra range from opening their Rhino Doors and Land Raider Doors. These can be dealt with by a kick to the Testicles

The rules don't address it. The INAT FAQ says that you measure the 2 inches from the hull, not from the extended door. YMMV.

Further, the rules don't address if you have to be able to lower all the doors, what happens if you can't lower a door, etc.

It's a great model, but like the IG Valkyrie, there's some rules issues that GW needs to clarify.

I agree with Gwar about the kick to the testes.

However, if I were to play someone who insisted that they can shoot the open door of the pod (if they didn't have range to the main hull) then I would deploy my marines within 2 inches of the doors rather than the hull.

I would add that while using the open doors as a deployment point is a TFG move, being opentopped you can measure 2" from any point on the vehicle, so the wings or what not are options, not just the base which is a bit smaller IIRC.

Yes, it is being Passive Aggressive goes a lot further than outright aggressiveness

whoa whoah whoah.... You can measure from the WINGS... I mean, I guess they are attacked to the hull, but everyone in our circle always sort of thought of them as ....fins or the equivalent of wings on a demon prince.

Part of the look, not the functionality.
