I've got a question: what would it take to get orks to work for the imperium? like being loyal to the point of fighting alongside the umies instead of fighting them. so is it possible?

Admiral Chester W Nimitz wrote:The war with Japan had been re-enacted in the game rooms here by so many people and in so many different ways, that nothing that happened during the war was a surprise.

It was said in the last Ork codex that Orks can be bribed for a short while but they will inevitably turn the weapons you gave to them on you.

Well in older books it says the the blood ax tribe (I think it was them) would fight for the Imperium as mercs every once in a while and for the right price... I believe this could still be done (bribery) but the human would be seen as a heretic and killed by the Inquisition or any body with half a brain.

now for the orks to be loyal and fight for the Emperor? well then,,, they must really think he is da boss if you know what i mean

They're vile xenos! burrrrrrrn them!

So yeah the problem really is humans in 40k are xenophobic. If it weren't the orks turning on them it would be them turning on the orks.

Now IF orks were loyal to the Imperium AND the Imperium was friendly with orks... then... the Imperium would win the war and everyone would be at peace... which means that the orks would then turn on the Imperium in a way. I mean, they fight among themselves anyway so it would be the same to them.

Where ever the Emperor needs his eyes

Merc Orks exist, see the Blood Axes mentioned above. The current book still says that they have been known to work for humans from time to time for the right price. How ever all of them working for the Imperium isn't likely, as the Orks were bred to fight and they'll fight who ever.

But can the orks need to fight be channeled to fight against the enemys of the imperium for an extended period?

Forever alone

The Imperium has connections with several minor alien races, IIRC. Blood Axe Ork mercenaries exist, and I'm sure that there's mercs from other races as well.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Well in the Dawn of war Eldar didn't manipulate them... just hypnotised them with their psychic, something a friend doesn't forget to mention when we end up on a team

In the new codex it says that the Bloodaxes do trade with the Imperium, probably something along the lines of "give me these shootas and I smash these boyz for you," but the bloodaxes are also natural backstabbers and so they'll probably end up gunning down whoever gave them the guns in the first place the second that they stop paying their protection fees. According the codex as well, "an ork would rather die then bow down to a non greenskin," so orks wouldn't work under the command of a human and wouldn't follow his orders. If you think of the ork society it makes sense, the human wouldn't be the biggest, so he'd get killed and replaced by a new warboss. The armegedon book gives a good example of this. Von Strab, a traitor the Imperium turned advisor to Gazghkull, is mentioned and he's just an advisor, probably going the get killed the second that Gazgkull gets Armegeddon, and I highly doubt that any ork actually listens to his orders unless Gazghkull backs them up.

Only Yarrick would be able to do it, and he would just kill them instead with his laser eye.

Exactly... he hates orks so much that he'd rather grab some poor guardsman's heavy flamer and torch them all...

Yeah I meant as he is the only one that would be respected/feared enough to get them to work with him, but he'd rather just kill them and add more to their superstitious fear of him.

If any were to work with the imperial forces, they would need to be on the edge of the Imperial controled space. Then, the mercinaries would be used if the influence of Imperial Guard was low enough. So it could happen its just extremely difficult for it to happen. Basically they'd need to be weak enough not to be fighting the Orks in the first place, but strong enough to gain their respect/fear. Since both of those would be complete opposites, it's extremely rare for that to happen.

Wouldn't any ork mercenary be dropping ork spores on the worlds he is fighting on, creating greenskin infestations that may not be so open to aiding the Imperium?

Yes all correct, anyone can make the orcs fight for them so long as they give them enough guns, though once whoever u've sent them off to kill is dea, they will jsut come back and shoot you with them (more likly club you with thick end). Eldar don't work with the orcs they amnipulate them, ie looking into the futer and killing the boss they see leading an attack on an Eldar craft worl who might kill 20 eldar, and instead the orc tribe is lead by a difernt big'un who leads a WAaaagh! on an human world and kills billions. that sort of thing.

Them Orc's is trik'sy dun't be trus'ten 'em boss!

I used to have a Guard army with this type of fluff. I used Ork models (2nd edition Storm Boyz) with Imperial weapons and ran them as Guard. The back story was that a radical Xenos Inquistor "grew" them and trained them i nthe Imperial Creed and they were loyal to "Da Emperaaah!"
