right from Phil K.:
-the SW will focus in their heroes, possible to build small elitist armies
-standard Marine approach should be possible too
-its his idea to throw in wolves, but i understood it more as cyberwolves than pure unaugmented fenrisian beasts
-the Wolfpack is a Box with all your needs to build SW,
30x heads, shoulderpads,Belts/bodies,wolifed weapons.
-wolfguard may be kitted out very differently and distributed amongst the army. But there is a price ( points, gets expensive fast)
-full 96 pages dex. SW concept may be heroic / superstitous. Cover = WD Cover .
No Models to look at. Both known Greyhunter+bloodclaw as green and painted, tough.

Nice little tidbit. Phil's a great guy. If only he'd written the CSM codex... But anyway. I think cyberwolves would be better than boring regular wolves, and the focus on characters sounds like fun. As for the lack of new models... I'm not worried. How diverse can Space Marines look? Did you talk to him at Gamesday or something?

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

I'm thinking I'll pick up the SW codex to see about the possibility of doing counts-as CSM with it. I happened to dig up my 3.5 CSM dex last night, and that sure reminded how bland CSM are nowadays.

Why should their "home" GD be like ours?
Do you fear its words, not deeds...?
Gw could hand this over to any gaming club and sent just p.kelly and d. abnett plus some FW guys and you would be surprised how
valuable such events can get.
But for your other slightly readable question: yes equipment and sagas make a nice SW hero.
Plus SW become really flexible.
Example: take a wolfguard, give him termie-armor and a cyclone, add him him to your long-fang squad. Voila 2 extra missiles.
Now, lets wait until we see the points cost. Options are fine, maybe sometimes fluffy, but not always a solid buy.

It looks more and more like GW is 'saving' all the good stuff for GD UK.
At least, at this point, I hope that's what they're doing.

I seriously wish they'd had SOMETHING for us. It's not like the release is that far away and all we've seen is four figures (I'll give them the benefit of the two on the poster).
We don't have confirmation of the number of boxed sets, blisters, or anything. I'd expect tons of previews by now, and then special characters at UKGD. But apparently, monkeys are in charge of GW marketing now. Hence, the mystery box.

Yeah. We're much better off not knowing anything at all about the upcoming releases until they're only a couple of weeks away. GW does that to help keep us safe from the evil Interwebz rumour people and their evil machinations of... evil. Plus, the very idea of GW opening displaying their upcoming releases and getting everyone excited about them is such a bad idea. In fact, I'd much rather we didn't even know Space Wolves were coming, and that they were another Mystery Box GW can not reveal to us when they say they will. Being in the dark about upcoming releases is so much cooler than not being in the dark about upcoming releases. [EDIT]: 8000 posts!!!!!!

Yeah, it is absolutely ridiculous. I don't mind having a secret, but this is all secrets, all the time. We are basically scanning White Dwarfs or Previews to see images.
Anyways, it'll be what it'll be. I can't imagine this will help the bottom line over time. Hopefully for GW, I am wrong.

Now prepare to die! *mortally wounds Emprah*Emprah: Au contraire, you dick. *kills Horus* Dorn: Okay, now I just plug this into this and . . . okay, it works! Emprah? Hellooooo? What they should do is just make it like the Fruit of the Month Club. You just sign up to get all their new releases for the year, without knowing: 1) if it's even a game system you play, 2) what the releases will be, or 3) how much they're going to mark it up. Every month, they bill your credit card several hundred dollars, and send you a big Mystery Box. If they release a new army that month, they give you enough stuff for a 1500-2000 point army made of all the new pretty models (whether they're effective on the battlefield or not).
Somewhere, someone is reading this and thinking, "gee, could we really get away with this?"

They could probably do this just for space marines. The color schemes lend themselves to fruitiness... "April is strawberr- I mean blood angels."

Hmmm....Space Marine of the Month? They could alternate Loyalist and Traitor. All plastic armies cast in a suitable color (so, red for BA and World Eaters, grey for SWs, etc.). Come with an APOC datasheet that gives Chapter/Legion abiliites (and any units) and a suitable 3000 pt army (so, BAs get more assault marines, white scars get more bikers, etc.). What's a reasonable price for a 3000 point marine army?
It would take them 18 months just to get through the first foundings. Add Black Templars, Crimson Fists, Red Corsairs, and other notable later chapters. Maybe even a whole year to the Badad Uprising (Alright! It's Lamenters this month!). GW could easily get 2-3 years out of this. If the did it quarterly, it'd last until Sixth Edition if not longer.

I'm not a big fan of miniatures with big severed animal heads sculpted on them though. So you name your chapter after the great wolves which live on your home planet, but instead of honoring them you cut off their heads and wear them as ornaments
My SW force will definitely not have features like that (and not a lot of mohawk heads either, if any at all).
