Nice report. Defenders are definitely up against the wall in Planetstrike, but it is kind of supposed to be that way.

I think it makes perfect sense for the defender to set up the table in the best way that they can - these are, after all defensible areas that they have set up. Shep has a pretty decent record as defender. He typically will surround his bastions with tarpit units behind walls to prevent assaults on the bastions right away. I totally agree with coming up with house rules to make it work better within your group, however. That is one thing I absolutely love about the various non-standard expansions (Cities of Death, Apocalypse and Planetstrike) is that they are much more story driven.

Your terrain is absolutely amazing, by the way. A real pleasure to read all of your battle reports and bask in the glory of painted models on great terrain - certainly the pinnacle of the hobby! Well done to you and your group, sir, I commend you all.

Great batrep and pics - thanks for sharing. I like the house rules you came up with to beef up the defenders ... how many games have you played with them in effect?

Oh man, this looks awesome. Will read this when I get home.

PS in a city no less? Given the sheer stupid amount of CoD terrain I own, this should teach me a thing or two about how to run this.

The table, as always, look amazing. People need to do more terrain like this - and not just from a quality perspective, but from a quantity perspective as well.

Now thats how you do a bat rep! great terrain and fantastic models with an easy to read, turn by turn narrative.

I also enjoyed the post game thoughts and your house rules. I was wondering how Planet Strike would play in an urban setting.

Thanks for posting - keep 'em coming

Loved this battle report, the terrain, the models, the only thing that was weird was the chaos marine army. Really cool idea (1 themed DP for 3 of the 4 chaos gods and troops for each of the 3 gods), but I wonder how good that works when you don't have a good advantage.

In the embrace of the great Nurgle, I am no longer afraid, for with His pestilential favour I have become that which I once most feared: Death.

It's reports like this with well painted armies on a great looking table that got me into this hobby. Excellent on all accounts.

Your side is always the "will of the people" the other side is always fundamentalist, extremist, hatemongers, racists, anti- semitic nazies with questionable education and more questionable hygiene. American politics 101.

Wow, what a game. Good job on remaining forthright and upbeat even when taking a stomping, and better job on working out rules to have more fun next time around.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

A really enjoyable read.

I shall by trying out the 'adjustments' you suggested, as both times I've played planetstrike defending it was just not fun!

Not quite sure what you're asking? Specifically the, "when you don't have a good advantage," part. If you're asking how my army performs, I would have to say that I win more than I loose, except against AgeOfEgoes, that would be more like 50/50.

Thanks for the compliments.
