hey dakka...

now that i have your attention, i guess i'd better come up with the goods...
i've recently been given the chance, by Eric Louchard, to paint some of his Dragonblood Miniatures line for the webstore...
he's got some pretty cool, unique, stuff...
the first two that needed paint were two ladies sculpted by Sandra Garrity, or Reaper fame...

here we have an aztec style priestess named Xitllali...
she was a team effort between the two of us, with me workin' out the colour scheme, and paintin' her up, then he threw some glazes on her to match the style of his other works...





she was my first attempt at realistic flame and OSL...
talk about stress...
Eric is a great painter himself, so doin' something the first time, and tryin' to make it look as good as his stuff was an impossible task...
i did learn a lot, and got paid, so that's something...

next up is the Outlaw Queen...
here i had to copy the colour concept art, which makes descisions so much easier...

Gotta say I really like them. The sculpts look really nice. The flame looks great imo.
As for the outlaw queen I like how the colors really seem to compliment each other. My only beef with her is that its hard to see the markings on her skin...then again maybe its the pic (it might pop more when seeing it live.)

Overall they look very nice.

The lighting effect on the first is lovely, I also love the colors on the second

Great models, and great paint jobs. I love how you used the fire to illuminate the model, it makes it very realistic.

I think the face on the first one is a bit less than feminine (ie big bulbous nose) but that isnt your fault. The second one is very nicely done and I like the sculpt a lot more.

The models look great, and i like the lighting effect from the fire, and the actual fire looks great too.

Really nice models and the paint job is really nice!

YAY BOOBIES! Lol but on a serious note very nice work! very realistic and professional. As stated above the nose on the first is a bit odd lol. I like the outlaw queen alot and Im considering getting one

Looking at them again I really have to say I love how the fire is shaped like a phoenix grasping forwards with its talons. The excellence of the work you put in on the fire effects just make it look fantastic.

The topic caught my eye, your paint job held my
attention. The Aztec priestess is fantastic, your light
sourcing, and how you hold the skin tone throughout
the model is great.

Not to crazy about all the pink on the Queen, it
washes out her already pale skin and makes some
of the tats hard to see. Think about a darker color
for the tats or the cloth so it does not match her hair.

OMG I can't believe I just had to look at a nude model. How dare you sir!

Really though, nice fire effect. I'm not too impressed with the first model, but I would imagine it's hard to sculpt that much bare flesh and get the proportions perfect.
Second model/paintjob is much better, me like it alot.

@bigjon: i had to follow the concept art for the outlaw queen, and this is how she is drawn....
what can ya do...
i just take the money and do what i'm told...

i have another girl on the way from Dragonblood...
i love when the mailman brings free minis!!!

should be a couple cool lizard type minis in this next commission as well...
it makes a nice change from the sci-fi minis that i usually paint...
