Hmm... a very intriguing premise for a story. Let's take a look.

The website wrote:Investigators from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Emory University and Andrews University analyzed survey data from 552 adults in the Seattle-Tacoma area. The subjects ranged in age from 19 to 90, according to the study, published in the October issue of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.

Right... seattle... 552 people... one of which was 90 freaking years old... think about the legitimacy of this survey... seriously epic fail.

Not only was one of them 90, but none of them were under 19, which is basically the targeted consumer.

What a pile of absolute twaddle.

It's the D&D moral crisis of the 80's all over again, only with obesity instead of Satanism.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

I talked with my mother about this a moment ago, and she said that when attack-studies like this are performed, the surveyers are very selective about who they study. The thing is, they apparently already have their result, but they will find people who fit it to try and prove themselves correct.

The subtitle it outright lying about the results of the study. There was no evidence of the traits having been caused by gaming, the opposite is actually more supported in the article itself. Also, note that it's only for female gamers that there's more depression, a fact that's casually ignored. And giving us the "average age" while ignoring people 18 and younger is even more laughable.

Considering that the article itself is filled with errors, I don't want to imagine the errors with the actual study.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

The only magical internet creature I know is a Cheese Elemental. He dwells under a bridge in Dakka fair and hides from the wee bogun beasties that torment him. He'll grant ye wishes if you catch him by his magical horn, as long as there's not imperial guard glued to it at the time...

Ne'er have I heard a truer description.

Hmmm... I think his horn would look fantastic in my trophy cabinet... and even if his horn is less than impressive, I could always do with a few more IG.

I personally have a problem with the small sample size of 552, and also what has been mentioned before about them all from Seattle area.

Although the results suck and there are some issues like mentioned earlier; I can't say I'm really all that surprised that most gamers are in fact somewhat losers - especially those that don't go outside or engage in face-to-face social activities.

All you need to do is spend a few minutes in a game with voice communication and you'll see why.
