hey dakka, just working on objectives and for an upcoming torny i need a 60mm major objective and i dont have any ideas for it? so i hope you guys can inspire me and show some ideas or show your own ect..

wounded guardsmen? you could have a 5 man squad, maybe a guardsmen dragging one thats seriously injured into cover?

well i have 2 minor objectives that are wounded men, although one here


im tempted to re position it all on a big base and some dead enemys around it?

Ammo dump?Food stuffs(or water, as mundane as they are in a battle they are vital)? A prized flag ? A commisar's hat(particularly funny for a 60mm base)?A particularly prized artillery piece(maybe given as a gift by a high-ranking officer for a heroic act) etc , just take the same basic ideas for the small objectives and make them bigger and bolder.

Go for the commissar's hat. It could be awesome!

i always do flags there pretty easy just get a stick (or balsa wood) dip paper in glue and wrap around the balsa wood. paint it! done! you have a flag

What I like to do which is also a good objective is a civilian or maybe two of them. I used 60-mm base and had a boy kneeling beside his dad & a guardsman trying to pull away the boy. It looks really great and I made the whole thing out of spare guard bit from my bitz box. Otherwise I would say do a platoon flag or something, its simple and easy to make.

I have made a big bomb from spare SM and IG parts, and it looks quite good, but they are a bit boring to paint.
another idea is a big ammodrum from a tank turret, like a las battery from the SM Predator?
A suitcase with a dollar symbol?
A scrap of Plasticard with "Fortress of Arrogance" written on.
A vox machine, lying abandoned and broken?

Considering that You have alot of spare IG bits, I would suggest making an objextive out of spare mortars, a few of their shells and a vox caster.

In terms of the real military, any radio that is abandoned is bad news, because they enemy can figure out the encryptions on them. This might not be the case in the 41st milinium but I believe it will still be a cool objective marker.

RAW an objective in a game is a point on the battlefield, not an object on the battlefield, so you measure from the center of the object, (which is used to solely to denote where the point is) to determine distance for capture/contest.

1: Rations and food supplies - http://www.blackdog.cz/t48.html has some awesome resin groceries. An army marches on its stomach, so a tipped cart or hauling truck would be good.

2: ammo and fuel are always popular

3: A scale dachsund with a GS officer's cap. The Colonel's pet/company mascot are always a popular to throw lives away to recover.

4: a single briefcase, box what have you, with the lid askew and a glow effect inside.

5: PP has a model that includes a frightened little girl - a quick imperial eagle or two, and rescuing the little girl becomes reward itself.

6: a mound of dirt with a lasgun stuck out, and hanging a helmet. Its pretty sad, but the field grave of a fellow guardsman would look pretty cool.

just got an idea, have a possesd chaos marine dying but is holding the guardsman officer who just luckely kill it before it destroyed him

You could take a set of IG legs and cut them off at the top of the boots and hollow them out with a Dremel and put them in the middle of a big crater and have some cotton smoke drifting out of them. Classis comedy.

One of my friends took 40mm bases and built ammo dumps out of Tamiya ammo crates and shells, he built a pile of Tamiya sandbags (the sandbag with the knife in it begs to be used), he put some Medic equipment on another. There's a gear kit from Tamiya that has a sheet of thick brown paper with printouts of MRE cases on them that you cut out, fold, and glue together to make a pile of rations.

How about you get the Dark Eldar 'Slave Women' bitz, add booze and food, and chain the girls to a sign that says 'R&R'?

That's quite silly. That implies that there is some inherent imbalance in using 2 dimensional objectives; since everyone interacts with an objective equally, it's size favours no one.

Lemme drop some quotes on you:

As for my objectives, the only ones I've invested any time in are for my pre-5th IG army; since there're max 3 objectives per player in the BRB game types, I put together a grav-chute supply drop, a fuel stash, and my (currently unfinished) blackhawk down-style squad remnants in need of evac.

I usually just paint a base in camo pattern and stick a gates of cadia transfer in the middle.

If youre playing IG you could have some important lookin guy or a couple of regular guardsmen in a cage made from empty sprues it would be easy to make and it would be obvious why its an objective.
