I'm thinking to add a couple squads of PBS models, and having some difficulty trying to decide what would make the best match for my jungle-fighting camo Guard. I'm not going to use metal models, and I want something "outside the box".

I'm currently thinking about the following options:

WFB Skaven Plague Rats
These are human-sized and very tatty-looking, which befits their "conscripted tool" status. They have separate heads, can be converted to hooded humans without any great difficulty using Empire heads and a little GS.

WFB Skinks
These are a bit smaller, and a tad cheaper at 24/box. They can be converted with collars and grafted controls for slaved animals using techie bitz and a little GS.

What do you think?

I vote for plague monks

because they arnt naked like skinks.

John i have a suggestion.

Keep the skaven monk head. But only use the hooded ones .
Just do these and it'll look perfect:

clip their ears alittle so its not sharp like animal / elves

take only the hooded ones , and snip their snout off cleanly at the hood's line.
GS some gass mask or any type of mask .

The plague monks will definitely have a strange "Out of the jungle" feel for your army, like they stumbled on an ancient race or something. If you go to Dave Taylor's blog, he's got some interesting conversions for Psykers, they were the first things to come to mind.

I used Empire Flagellants for the base of my Psykers. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of them, but with some work they look very much like they're slaves/forced into service. Most of mine are converted to have chains/collars/leashes and stuff on them. The only "issue" with them is that they look like they're really jacked, and that is very contrary to the PBS statline and such.

I think that Empire Flagellants might be a better option. The box has a man in the stocks, plenty of flaming torches (remove the flames and stick them to hands), and a head-mounted brazier.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

With the voting running 7-0, it looks like the Plague Monk idea will be the way to go...

I saw his big head little dudes, and it's what kinda got me looking at WFB models for PBS in the first place.

I looked at them, but they were way too psycho for what I wanted.

Plus, everybody and their brother is already doing this....

But you didn't vote for the converted Skink idea...

Yeah, I clicked 'other'.
I was thinking more of a menagerie of different animals.

FYI, I'll be using hooded heads of various types, depending on what looks good and is easy to make.

But you're on the right track with what I've got in mind.

Ears, yeah, those will go away.

The Skaven head isn't bad, but I'll need to cut the snout entirely, and incut for the hood. Maybe put a rebreather mask in there or something.

I've worked with both.

plague monks work fine with human heads (these are Pig Iron gasmask heads) and most human arms. It's up to you if you want to clip off the rat feet. For my genestealer cult I think it looks fine.

I use flagellents as my IG psykers.

I like plague monk idea better ( hooded and NO human head unless they have children heads )

So they look like some sort of mysterious but deadly children with psychic powers. ( village of the damned? )

Flagellents are good for other IG armies, just not the look I want. Flagellants just don't look like WS2 S2 models, and they don't look very psyker. They just look crazy. If someone were doing a Tau Guevasa army, Flags would be great as count-as Kroot.

Luna is completely on track with where I'm going: small, scary evil little dudes. I'm going to cut the feet so the robes drag on the ground, probably experiment with LSS painting effect for glowing eyes.
