So, this week, I have been busting a nut in the Taxi trying to earn as much as I can for my Holiday at the end of next week, which I reckoned I'd need about £300 for.
Up to yesterday, all was going swimmingly. I'd paid my rent, balanced out my 50/50 money for the company, as from today to wednesday, pretty much every penny I earnt would be for me (minus Diesel of course).
What could possibly go wrong? I was putting the work in, and reaping the rewards. Keeping myself positive on the slow days, and ragging it on the good days. Well, it has gone wrong. Spectacularly so. Fate has dealt me an atomic wedgie, but not before ensuring my Boxers were lined with broken glass coated in Tabasco sauce.
The tosser I share a Taxi with? Has written the fething car off. Stacked it. Or as he put it 'had a road traffic accident'.
This sucks. This sucks more than anything has ever sucked before. So much for my very long weekend of drinking, smoking, fighting and whoring (was off to my first LARP event).
And now I literally have no money for myself, barring the £25 cheque which has hopefully cleared. Which doesn't help. Entry to the event itself is £90.
So, suitable punishments? I mean this ultimate event was inevitable I suppose. In the three and a half months I've been driving that Cab, worst I've done to it is a flat tyre which happened very quickly. But Malcolm? In the 6 weeks he's had it? 2 Burst tyres, load of dents down the drivers side (including a particularly impressive bit of work by the rear door, which caved in the sill, but left the door undamaged. HOW?) smashed one of the rear lights, and knackered the brakes. Oh yeah, and the two flats he got? Both had to be sorted out during my shift, as the Tyre Centre is closed when he has the car.
I'm thinking that punishment from Scorpion King, you know, buried up to your neck and then let the ants eat your eyes.

You can say that again.
So once again, through no fault of my own, I'm sat here, awake at an ungodly hour considering I'm not making money (when you make money, no time is ungodly) twiddling my thumbs and am simply too furious to go back to sleep, and not quite ready to take the Dog for a calming walk. Really not amused right now.
Oh, and to inform me? He calls at 2a.m. in the morning, then leaves a voicemail message on my mobile. Thats it. One attempt. After all, me not being able to work is hardly something I really need to know (oh yeah, out of phone credit as well).
I think I'm going to have a little cry now.

I've said this before, cast your eye at the other taxi firms and ffs save for your own plates, get motor sorted and once done, keep upping it, my uncle's mate, once he left working as a screw in Wandsworth, drives stretched mercs round London village for wealthy types and he's loaded now.

No other Taxi Firm supplies cars, and having crunched the numbers, the £200 a week rent-to-buy is actually a pretty good deal as it covers all maintenance, repairs, MOT, Tax and Insurance worries.
On the bright side, someone is lending me £200 to attend the LARP event, and I shold have new wheels for Monday. GRR!

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

I just figured out who you are CE, you're that bastard ventriloquist's dummy from 'Magic'...
I learned everything I know from Uncle Chucky and Grandad Jigsaw.

That does suck. I'll relate a similar story, because I'm poasting (yes, poasting). I was downgraded from personal trainer to desk staff, which means going from $35 an hour to $9 an hour. I was a king, and now I am but man.
Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh.

Personal training is a luxury, and many (most) people kicked it once the economy went to hell. I was one of the first dropped because my rates were high (education debt/skill), and because I refused to push supplements. Also, my manager is old-school (pain increases proportionately with gain), while I'm new-school (pain means your muscles are tearing unnecessarily), so we had many previous conflicts about young athletes.
