This isn't really a blog, so I'm posting it here. I'll be posting the 'after' once everything is done, but this is the 'before':

What happend to those combo packs with 2 set of tower and 3 set of walls?

They ran out, so Maelstrom graciously sent me all the items in separate boxes for the same price.

Thats alot of stuff... Your going to burn up a heck of alot of glue and paints on that.

around $340 if bought from within USA.

around $360 if from Maelstrom into Aus.

Well I've made two so far. The aim for the first 'batch' is to finish off another 2 standard Bastions, another one that's double-high, and then two that are like that basic conversion in the PS book (is. one double-high tower with a smaller low-level bunker attached to the side), and then one like this.

Need one more Bastion for that, but it is on its way.

On the same day, the friend that took that photo started work on a single fortress that uses 5 Bastions and an entire Manufactorum kit. Either he or I will post pics of that when it's done.

Like the 'before'.

The bastions arent so many pieces, may we see them soon?

That's truly a crazy amount of bastions, you must be playing some really big games to need that many? Or are they for your store games or something?

Personally, I think the bastions couldve been better. The defense walls aren't as bad because they're just a small piece on the field but I wish the bastions could be altered a bit more and had more walkway(possibly even sell pieces to make connected walkways between the bastions). The chaos bastion is a slap in the face to chaos players too. OOOO A spiky bits sprue? NO @#$!ing way! How about something uniquely chaos other than spikes?

Or better yet, a bastion base model, and then you make additional sprues for each race to make it their own. They could have made it so each race could buy their own extra sprues with little knick knacks that added flavor but also larger plates that would replace plates on the standard bastion to make it more like a bastion of that particular race. For instance gork/mork idols/icons , replacement walls with bullet-holes/added sharpened sticks to the top, lots of little plates that appear like they have been nailed on for extra armor, etc. Spiky bits sprue from a rhino box? Come on GW, you aren't even trying anymore.

The thing about the Chaos Bastion, and I said this when it was first previewed, is that Chaos players would be the only ones interested in getting it but Chaos players also need more spiky bits like they need a hole in the head.

I have nothing more numerous in my Chaos bitz than spikes and chains from the vehicle accessory sprues, so why would I ever need more to make a Chaos Bastion?

Anyway, the above picture will make 8 Bastions/Foretresses in total, plus a couple of small bunkers. Round 2 involves another 7 Bastions, and will make a single massive fortress and another two small bunkers.

This has really caught my attention ! After all the work involved just on what you've shown us, I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing the results.

I am building my own Eldar bunkers from 75cl and 33cl Evian bottles and foam card. Lots cheaper!

Gonna make orky ones eventually too.

I also found these bottles in my local shop, which will make either great Eldar or Imperial towers, depending on how I paint them.

That Bastion is almost finished, just have a few details then I will post pics of it as soon as I get my camera back... Hope to see your designs soon

GW themselves are, yeah.

I'd assume that Maelstrom, etc can get it via them.

Friend of mine built this using his bastion kids plus most of a Manufactorum. It will hold a Defence Laser of some sort (or something equally as huge) plus have a few turrets. Bottom level will be all Heavy Bolters, with the upper-levels containing Lascannon sponsons.

The HB / LC will be mounted later?
Isnt it a problem to fix them, as this tower seems to be glued together already?

Way better than the usual ones that are just three bastions put together.

The Bastions are hollow remember, so you can just reach in and slot the guns in.

How he's going to do the Lascannons I'm not so sure. I'm using spare Hull Lascannons from Leman Russ tanks.
