Hi all! I recently purchased a good deal of Tyranid stuff as I'm starting to get into 40k. After reading over lists, it seemed like a good idea to magnetize the weapons and such so that I could switch them out for more of a WYSIWYG army. A friend of mine gave me some tiny magnets, and they work great for tiny pieces. I'm not sure what size they are, but I could probably fit 6 of em in an arm hole of a Tyranid Warrior. These things are SMALL!!! I tried putting on a venom cannon, and the thing just falls off.

So my question to you all is: what size magnets would be a good choice for magnetizing pieces on the following models.

Gaunts & Hormagaunts
Genestealers
Carnifex
Tyranid Warriors

I think the real tiny ones I have will work for the gaunts, but I'm not sure about anything else. Any help would be appreciated!!

Carnifex/warriors 4mm
Gaunts & Hormagaunts Genestealers 2.5mm.

I hope you won't be magnetising everything?
You are going to need alot of magnets (at least 10 per stealer).
That is going to get boooooring!
Good luck.

We magnetized my son's 'Nid army to great effect.

We used 1/16" Dia x 1/32 Thick magnets for gaunts/genestealers and 3/32" Dia x 3/32" Long magnets for Warriors/Carnifex/Tyrant

Got them at Amazingmagnets.com for a good price. the small ones run $5/hundred and the largers one are $8/hundred

There is no prize that exceeds the worth of my honor.

you don't put the magnets on the arms you put them In the arms. drill a hole slightly bigger than the magnet and seat it the magnet in as a test fit.. then once you are sure you have the polarity correcty super glue them in.

$10 will buy another army? funny in what alternate world is that?

http://www.kjmagnetics.com/products.asp?cat=17 check around the surplus section for good deals. 250 magnets for $10 is a damn good deal.

Not sure where the 10 bucks comes from???
It does start to add up pretty quickly.
100 magnets would only do 6-8 stealers if you are doing full magnetisation.
I have just used about 30 magnets on a single carnifex.
