I have been playing alot against my friends IG army lately, and the story is always the same... Template, template and more templates.... When I finally get closer to prepare for assult, I get " 1 rank, 2 rank fire" (or what ever that order is named) up i my face. 100 Lasgun shots hurts...
I have tired flanking with TL Rokkit koptas, grot screen... but everything I have tried up now have failed. And it has not much esiser when we started with Planet strike... Defending IG against Orks seems to be a big fail for the orks....
Can any of you more experienced Ork players please help me but together a 1500 point army to have at least have a chance on paper... the rest is up to me...
I need to note that I have fair score against other armies such as SM, CSM, necrons and so on... so I am just not a crappy player : ), just having difficulties against IG...
This is the model count I own...
1 Warboss, PK, squig,pole
1 KFF mek
1 Weirdboy
90 Shoota boys
30 SLugga boys
20 grots
30 Lootas
12 Burnas
15 Tank bustas, 2 hammers, 3 squigs
10 Nobs, 3 PK, 2 Big choppa, 3 combi
5 Kommandos (1 Nob) + Snikrot
3 Deffkoptas, TL Rokkits
3 Wartracks
1 Trukk
3 Killa kans, 3 grotzooka, 2 scorcha, 1 big shoota, 3 Rokkit
1 Deff dread
3 Big Guns (any of the 3 choices)
1 BW
It must be possible to put together something with these models....

Seems it would be easier for you to make a mechanized army. I'd take the KFF mek, troops as you choose, all you'd need to add would be trukks, lootas in BW wartraks deffkoptas and kommandos. Kommandos would do good with a nob and 2 rokkits. I guess you should have the points for all that. You could also use the wierdboy if you'd have enough points. The main idea would be just to rush to them as fast as possible before they bring hell on you. Turboscout those deffkoptas and if you're lucky you'll bust something before they can answer (even if you begin second there is that potential). With trukks you'll be less prone to templates and even if the get mowed down on the way ramshackle makes it possible for you to actually get advantage by losing them. Roll a hit on Kareen! and the next second you charge their balls.

Snikrot and his boys are excellent for taking out 2 or 3 squads of guardsmen. You will however need the full 15+ Snikrot. I highly recommend giving them burnas, as they will be able to toast a combined platoon before charging or be able to hack through MEQ. Tying up the guardsmen should allow your boys the time to get stuck in.
Lootas are a tricky proposition against guard. You can blast the lighter vehicles and troops, but they have no power against the tanks.
One thing to try is giving the kopters a Buzzsaw. Str 7 attacks on a vehicles rear armor should give very satisfactory results.
Do not forget to run. Against guard you are almost always better off in melee. The only exception is if you have shootas, are just outside waaagh range and he has lots of flamers.
With a clever use of the Waaagh, you shouldn't need to spend any time in double tap range for his rapidfire lasguns.

I play against similar Ig players and run into the same problems.
I find that breaking the boyz into 20 man groups and putting them in Battle wagons ensures (for the most part) that they get there intact.
one or two trucks going flat out at him aswell just to keep the pressure up.
The KFF helps with keeping the BWs moving (Armor and grot riggers help aswell)
Also a tactic that Ive used with some success is turbo boosting Deffkoptas up the far flank to get an unobstructed angle on his HW teams. My opponents usually have them goto ground to avoid casualties, so it lessens the amount of anti-armor fire coming my way.
Once Im at their lines.....well you know what happens there....

Just summarizing soo far:
opt:1
Full squad of Kommandos
opt:2
More BW
I only have 1 BW so far... and my Sabol case is full apart from 1,5 1" tray.
Feels a little funny that horde is so gimped agaist IG... I have 120 Boys and it seems that I never can play that option against IG.
I might also add that it feels strange to spend 300-360 points for 3 BW, just to keep 60 boys alive.
But soo far I havent managed to find any footslogging setup that stand a chance.
I have been quite convinced (up to now) that the iG player shouldnt be able to wipe 4 full squads of Boys (total 120 boys) before I reach him.
I havent tried fielding 20 grots as meat-wall in front of the 120 boys yet... That keeps me alive (maybe) a bit longer against the Russ.... but the 2 Basilisks is another story... Indirect fire is the real meatgrinder...
I have also been thinking of disturbing his target priority, but in heavens name could be more terrifiyng than 120 boys running towards you????
Fileding 30 Lootas might distact him for 1 turn or so...
But I have a feeling that 1 russ and 2 Basilisks should make the Lootas running in 1 turn, 2 if I am lucky... That might give me time to reach them....
Then we have the lasgun wall to deal with... Kommandos might hold a couple of squads for 1 turn....
I am just rambling on here... spilling out my thoughts....

IG are the counter to horde orks. As has been mentioned, go KOS to get to him fast.
Get 6 squads of 12 boys in Truuks and have them go flat out. To get cheep truuk models, head to toy's are us. Buy 6 toy trucks for kids that are the right size. Take em home and paint em red. Stick one or two orks, slap on some skulls, and you have truuks! The best thing is your truuks wheels will work -- unlike the GW truuks.
Get 3 BW and use them to transport 20 boys each. Have them push 13" a turn with their red paint.
Use DeffKoptas to shake up his big tanks. Turbo-boost in your scout move to give your koptas a 3+ cover save on turn1, while still allowing you to fire your koptas.
Thats about it. You need to give him 1 turn unti the first ork barrage hits his lines. He needs no more than 2 until your BW orks hit his line.
Your goal is to give him so many targets he cannot shoot them all. Remember that blast templates that don't hit a vehicle directly are half strength -- this will make it harder for scattering battlecannons to hurt truuks.
