Hey all, I'm pretty perturbed right now :( The last 3 games I have played I have tried for a fluffy list running Typhus. Now, Plague Marines and Nurgle DP's rock, no doubts about that. But EVERY game Typhus has performed so poorly that I've almost given up all hope of running him :*(

One game I was against Eldar. I was basically sweeping him off the board with little effort; the fact he couldn't kill the PM's with all his low str stuff made it damn hard on him. And then Typhus drops outta his LR. Now, my opponent was afraid of him. So afraid he took a ton of shots and killed his retinue and did 1 wound (it took 12 scatter lasers, a bunch of those str 6 ap 2 shots, and some other stuff). Typhus got into range, did his template, killing 4 warp spiders. Charged, downed a Autarch and the exarch... only to get one shot by the wraithlord the following turn. So for 225 points I killed 5 WS's and an autarch? fail. Not counting the retinue that protected him just to die a horrible death :(

The second game I ran him against 'Crons. He did far better, downing about 12 warriors.... and then a Monolith one shots him. Fail.

The third game, and the game that makes me just wanna box him for good, was against SM's. My foe was running swarm marines at 2500 points with 2 command squads w/ 3 meltas each, storm shields, and relic blades. Yeah, uber cheesy stuff. I knew the game was going to be very hard for me to win, he was running meltas/lascannons in every squad, had tons of snipers, and his assault squads trump my PM's pretty hardc ore. I was running my fun fluffy list anyway. Anywho, 3rd round in Typhus and his nurgle termi retinue disembark and he kills 3 scouts with his template. My foe drops off 20 marines from their rhinos, turns, and fires at me. I lose all but 1 termi. Now the 2 squads are piled up close, so I move around, and launch my template at the two squads... killing 5 from one squad and 4 from the other. SCORE! Things were looking up for typhus! So I assault the nearest squad, confident Typhus will finally be able to wipe something good from the face of existance... only to roll a 1 for my demon weapon. My termi downs 3 more marines, leaving the PF wielding sarge.... who insta-gibs Typhus! FAIL!!!!!!!

I believe that for 225 points Typhus should have been T5(6) or something! The fact our "second" best HQ gets insta gibbed by... well, everything, makes me wanna just run a chaos sorc or something. Least if it gets insta-killed its 100 less points!

Sorry for the rant, I just think that (while I love the chaos dex, unlike many others) Typhus got the shaft :( Anyone else agree?

I dunno. Even Abaddon is only T4(5). I'd have to stop short of saying "Typhus got the shaft".

That said, I do think Eternal Warrior would be warranted for him (and all the other CSM special Characters... the whole Daemon army has it for crying out loud).

Lack of Eternal warrior and that's basically it.

If you can keep him away from the str 8 stuff fine, but at the cost of nearly 2 Winged Daemon princes.... i don't know.

In addition he needs a posse and a transport to combat, all of which costs points...alot of points.

IMO, he should have been using Lysanders's Rules with FNP and the daemon weapon tacked on top.

Relic blades on command squads? Are you sure they weren't just regular power weapons or was it a captain?

T(5)6 would be nice...what about just stock T6...? Why is Cassius 'tougher' than Typhus...with better inv saves and is not in termy armor.../shrug.

Just face it, the CSM codex has the spawn rules, icon system, bland lesser/greater daemons....just take it the writters didn't spend any time on the codex and wait for the next one which may be a new CSM codex or specifically the Legions.

You can always count as, and use Abaddon's rules as Typhus.... or go loyalist rules set and use Lysanders rules...etc.

Abaddons eternal warrior plus his ridiculous stats (str 8 lightning claw anyone?) is what makes him so great! I have Abaddon, and I run him in games of 4000+. I'm just so disappointed that Typhus costs so much, but for only 50 points more you have a model that can slay carnifexes and hive tyrants with guards in a single combat! Heck, he kills entire troop squads a turn (with good rolls)! Typhus is lucky if he doesn't get killed :/

I think I boxed Typhus after he died all 3 times in a tournament. First time to the skulltaker, 2nd time to powerfists, last time was vs a librarian and I happened to roll a 1 for deamon weapon.

He doesnt do justice in the new codex and people wonder why almost every CSM army has 2 lash princes.

Typhus really does need Eternal Warrior, but he's done quite well in the few games i've fielded him. The only reason that im annoyed with him is that his daemon weapon absolutely hates him ; in one match i had him wound himself 3 times, and then he got cut down by a single enemy wound...

yeah, everyone I've talked to whos played typhus has agreed that hes much weaker than he really should be, especially at the points cost! He'd get slaughtered by a hive tyrant, and with wings and decked out a HT costs less than 200 points anyway! Seems kinda unfair lol

I really was scared of Typhus in that game, now I know to take a wraithlord and just spank him.

He can't harm vehicles that's for sure... I am in the habit of insta killing him with my Demolisher and have armed my PC with 3 meltas for when he decides to deep strike behind my lines. He needs badly Eternal Warrior. I mean come on Yarrick has It!
