I wish they could have access to some kind of smoke shell, but I like mortars anyway

Could always have a smokeshell house rule (Hey, if tanks get Smoke Launchers, Mortars should get smoke shells too! Those infantry might need a screen at one point in the game)

Smoke is for pansy's, take a stand like men or dig in like women!

No see, because if they use smoke it could be crazy-purple-knockout-gas. And if it was crazy-purple-knockout-gas then they could just run the enemy over with tanks and not even have to waste a single round! It's all about conserving supplies

I was thinking more that the mortar squad could either fire normally, or provide smoke cover to a friendly squad. Enhanced cover save or assault bonus or summat. Merely a ponder, anyhoo.

Smoke shells seems pretty good, deserves its own rules.
Also, maybe a strong form of a CS shell aswell
