Our website is live and kicking! Come see photos of our very first miniature and learn a little bit more.

The miniature is hand cast in resin and will be available in limited supply sometime next week. We will be contacting our own private mailing list regarding availability FIRST. So if your interested, make sure to sign up for it!

Kingdom-death.com

Kingdom Death : Adventures into the abyss is an independently and lovingly crafted high quality hobby board game that pits a table full of friends against countless abominations, terrors and challenges. Gorgeous 35mm scale miniatures represent survivors in a world where humanity is merely a speck of dust living a pitiful, fractured and history-less existence. Only the deeply deranged would attempt to fight back.

Accept this land as your deathbed. Wave goodbye to your sanity and dare to challenge the impossible!

Currently, we are planning on releasing a small very limited collectors run of each miniature as they are finished. The next opportunity to get them might not be until the full game is released in 2010!

It may not be good business practice to outright block IE from viewing.

I use IE, and I see it fine.

So far it looks good but with only 2 pieces of art and 1 model there's not much to go on.

I'm using IE 8 and it's just redirecting me to a page that says "IE6 does not belong. GET FIREFOX"

@Wayfarer,

That is pretty serious. I know it ie7 works just fine because i've tested it with it. But I've yet to upgrade and try ie8 yet. I deeply apologize for that! I'll need to revisit the redirection and figure out what is happening exactly, because that should not be the case.

@MagickalMemories,

Still working out exactly what the price should be. Hand casting in resin is more expensive then white metal or pewter casting ( we much prefer it tho ). Will announce the price once it goes on sale sometime next week!

This is all super exciting for me. A lot of hard work has gone into the project and while its early we are planning to make steady releases and continue to share info about the game / game world.

Thanks for the compliments so far!

Same here. "IE6 does not belong on this website. GET FIREFOX!". I'm using IE8 with Vista.

Loks like it's a site-wide redirector for everything on poots.com and adampoots.com

@neil

Yep, that is correct. Supporting IE6 properly requires a very large amount of effort. Eventually we'll get there, but it was not a priority. When the re-director was coded ie8 didn't exist. But it does 100% work with ie7.

Will figure it out tomorrow.

Wouldn't it be better to show IE6 a badly formatted page than nothing at all? Or at least just a warning then a link to proceed to the site (as the GW site does). It's fairly rude and frustrating to the potential customer (and I am a potential customer, I'm allways in the market for figures for D&D! The one you've shown here looks good.)

the boobs sold me!

If it's 35mm, what's the scale compared to a ~human sized GW figure? slightly larger, or a whole lot larger?

I do like the concept art though (which is always a good sign). I think the first sculpt is nice but suffers from chainmail bikini syndrome.

But I can't really criticise you for that considering the market you're breaking in to.

My favourite parts were boob #1 and boob #2.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

I would buy that for a dollar! (or 3-5 I guess).

I do want to see her next to some cadians though. If she is just about their size I could see buying some of the line for Inquisitors and Necromunda stuff. If she is significantly bigger (Say Inquisitor scale Death Cultists) I could see buying one for a deamon princess base. I she is just a bit bigger... well I might buy one for pin-up "paint practice" purposes.

Something to consider while producing is that an odd scale will really limit cross purchases of your models.

Great look and proportions though! Hopefully she doesn't live past 35, however, as her back will be killing her...

Games workshop scale is 28mm "heroic". A average space marine measures around 32mm to the eyes and a chaos lord is closer to 38-40mm! For kingdom death we wanted to go with a larger more realistic proportion so that we could have even larger much more terrifying monsters. I'll take some photos of the white speaker next to a few GW models so you guys can see and post em later on tonight. ( am off to freelance web design for the day so I can keep funding my project! )

For ie issues, my developer has also suggested we go with a warning system instead of a hard re-direct. I'll repost as soon as that issue is taken care of.

Chainmail bikini indeed!
To be totally honest, she is very much a deliberate classic sexy archetype. We felt it was pretty important to at least include one. I also find it pretty amusing that the majority of the sculptors dragged their feet on the male models and despite that she wasn't the first I commissioned... she was completed first!

You can learn some basics about the character on the site. For the actual game system we have yet to post any information about it. It's very much in the vein of hero quest and warhammer quest if your familiar with those. The game relies pretty heavily on a sanity stat, which functions a bit like hit points. See a scary monster, lose some sanity, cast a spell, lose some sanity. When your sanity is low and your character starts to go crazy... the Preacher class might be able to convince you that the terrible wound you just took... doesn't hurt at all! But run out of sanity... then you draw a card from the insanity deck. Which is just stuffed with terribly wonderful things.

Thanks so much for commenting and showing some interest.

Nice sculpting, and like everyone else, I wish you all the best...the more competition for GW the better!!

Would I buy this mini, probably not! I'm getting bored with seeing female miniatures like this, the market is literally flooded! I'd like to paint and use a female miniature that is convincing in her role as a combatant, and not someone who belongs on a stage!

I'm not a prude, I likes me breast like the rest of em, but I really need some decent female sculpts to tempt my wallet right now.

Corrected your typo for you.

2014 will be the year of zero GW purchases. Kneadite instead of GS, no paints or models. 2014 will be the year I finally make the move to military models and away from miniature games.
