Just bought a new Dread today and decided I need a Venerable one, I raided my bitbox and this is what came out, I apologize for the lighting and mould lines, I'll fix them later...
Anyway, here ya go
"I CAN'T SEEEEE!!!!!"
I'll post pictures for when I finish painting it, but it's night out now so I don't want to start spray-paint-priming obviously!

I would remove the storm shield, it just looks out of place.
In the Dakka Tutorials section there is aguide on how to make venerable dreadnought heads, try checking that out.

Really? I actually like it, but, I guess I did make it
I think I know what article you're talking about, but unfortunately, I don't have the spare parts just yet, I was going to do it that way in the first place, oh well.

I like the pose of the Dredd and the Ork on the ground, it's a nice touch, seeing this has given me the urge to finally do something with my AOBR Dredd, the Storm Shield looks a little out of place, maybe something a little smaller would look better? not sure what though..

He at least has eyes now,
I know its not perfect, but, he's only human... well, genetically enhanced, physically dead and encased in an ancient walking sarcophagus.
The story behind the shield is that I was inspired by Matt Hutsons Black Templar Dreads, of which you can see a small picture in WD351, if you have that issue go take a quick look

The Storm Shield looks out of place now. Once painted it'll be a different story. I've seen another Dread using that exact same Storm Shield before, and I wish I'd thought of it. He looks ace. Good use of Bitz. Where's the "trapped skeleton" bit from?

@ H.B.M.C: Thanks, the skeleton is from the Giant kit, and I agree, I think it will look better painted

Cool. I like thye storm shield, for the record. I agree with H.B.M.C. that it'll look better wwhen painted, but I believe it'll blend in nicely witht he wings to the side of the sarcophagus.

Mate if you like it who cares? I reckon its a really nice gothic dreadnaught. Although to be honest I prefer my marines to look far more sci-fi than gothic.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

I would say either move the storm shiled down to just underneath where the 'head' would be or make the storm shield a tabard hanging from its waist. Im not to sure on the size of the shield compared to the height of the legs so that may not be possible. And the port/viewing window on the shield just looks out of place.
But thats my $.02, its your model so do what you wish

Probably somewhere I shouldn't be

I must say that I like the storm shield too - simple but striking.
What I'm not too fussed on is the claws on the DCCW - they look far too thin to stand up to the kind of force a dreadnought can deal - I'd make them at least twice as thick as you have them there.
Overall, it's a good job, can't wait to see it painted!

Fluff wise, you could always say he was a termiantor sargent armed with that same storm shield, which would make sense to me.
I do like what I see so far.

Agreed, make the stormshield part of his fluff, it's literally his shield from his last days as a termy.
I too think the claws look a little spindly - possibly bulk them up with plasticard on the sides?

That's a good idea, fine, he'll be a Termy
I wasn't going for anything big with the claw either, I just wanted to make it look a tad more dangerous than the normal fist, it's not necessarily a full on power claw, although that would be awesome!

Looks good - interesting conversion. I think the window slot makes it work.
