Is there a list anywhere that GW says what codex's are coming out or when?

I would like to get the Ork / Eldar / Tau / Chaos Daemons Codex. But dont want to waste money if they are obsolete / about to be updated. This is more towards buying the eldar / tau codex because I know the ork / chaos daemons codex just preceded 5th edition.

-Cheers

Statement: This definition, I am told, is subject to interpretation. Obviously, love is a matter of odds. Not many meatbags could make such a shot, and fewer would derive love from it. Yet for me, love is knowing your target, putting them in your targeting reticle, and together, achieving a singular purpose, against statistically long odds." ~ HK-47

None of those are slated to be updated in 2010.

lolno.

GW hates the Inquisition almost as much as they hate DE. We won't get our rewrite for a loooooong time.

I heard they were going to rewrite Dark Eldar soon. Truth or rumor?

There are a few signs that may point to it, but really, it's all rumour so far.

Phil Kelly started Grey Knights after he finished Space Wolves. This is as official as it gets.

Orks and Chaos Daemons are both up-to-date, whereas Eldar and Tau do not have updates on the horizon.

The Dark Eldar Codex is supposed to be complete, and it is just the models they are waiting on. It is supposed to come out next year, but that has been the word for several years now.

Noted and thanks. Sad about the Eldar Situation.

GW could easily release three to four codexs and a year maybe more!

At the end of the year they release all the new models at once except for the new units which will be released right after the new codexs for obvious reasons.

Then by 6th edition everything will be updated.

This doesnt benefit GW's wallet a whole much but makes a better game and will un-screw up 40k.

The perfect time to release the models would be like christmas or do two major releases of new models each year.

SM and the armies that most kids play at Xmas cause they get them for christmas while the other armies like DH, DE etc that not many kids play can be released mid-year August time.

Why are you guys so hungrey for updated Codex? Each time GW re-writes a codex, something is lost and theres something else you HAVE to buy to keep up with the jones's......its ridiculous.

Wouldn't you rather GW fixed their rules set, play tested and released a set of army books, and then got on with what they "claim" they're good at.....producing miniatures.

I mean, considering how big the game of WH40K is, and how many people play it, its astounding that we're onto version 5 of the main rulebook!!!! I mean, is it soo hard to write a set of rules for a fantasy game? Why all the updates?

They could get a set of well grounded basic rules produced, an army book for each race, and then use their website wisely and distribute updates to the army books, introduce new characters and models, etc......

Man down, Man down....

TBH I dont give a gak about Codexs as long as Jervis is fired, he then runs to mexico. Is hunted down by a trained assasin who cuts his head off and creates clonning machines.

He sticks Jervis head in the machine and sends everyone Jervis head stuffed in a box with an apology for fething up warhammer stuffed in his eye balls.

Space Wolves are the next Codex out and they still haven't even told us (let alone previewed) what the new models are. GW doesn't tell you what they're going to do - they keep you in the dark for as long as possible.

This is what GW call their 'advertising strategy', what we in the rest of the world call "bull sh!t".

And it's Codices, not Codexs, Codexes, Codexen or any other nonsence.

Just remember:

Matrix - Matrices
Codex - Codices

honestly theres many reasons for new codecies and rulebooks.
were partly to blame for all the new editions and codecies, would you keep playing hte game if it was still the rogue trader rules witha 500 point game limit. or 2nd ed with increased point limits and a basic ruleset. some would but the vast majority would get tired of playing the same missions the same armies and the same game over and over and over as 2nd ed there was only half as many armies to play. thus they release a new rulebook every coupple of years, adding a few rules, a new army or 2.

the other reasons are monitary. If they still used the origonal codecies people would finish their army there would be no need for them to buy new models. Again every few years they release a new codex, either change or remove existing units, and add new ones to promote model sales.

other reason is ballance, to keep the game ballanced with every new rulebook they have to redo the codecies for each one and with each new codex the game again becomes unballanced, as GW doesnt put enough time into playtesting them thus starting the cycle again.

I play Sisters. 90% of my models predate the first introduction of the Dark Eldar. My wallet is getting too heavy; pass the plastic crack already!!

And some of the models will still come with the stuff you can no longer use well after the new codex is released just to mock you, that is if they didn't consider the model good enough to need an upgrade. SM still needs their MotF, he is just a fancy Techmarine, but you have to build his fancy gun. Metal Techmarines are also annoying if you've ever tried to put together the servo harness >_>

GW maintains a schedule for the next codices to come out.
But there is no official schedule.
