Are Wytches good in assault?

What makes them rock the house / suck horribly?

Since they have a 4+ invuln in assault, negate bonus attacks for extra weapons, and have a random other bonus they are more of a tarpit unit than a "destroy everything right now!" unit. They win more through combat res and not dying themselves.

Are only 3 wytches per squad still able to use the impaler, hyrdroknives, and falchion?
That seems to be a good edge, but I would not see it as game breaking.

They definitely win it when it comes to Combat Res, hardly anyone has a chance at beating the Initiative check of a Wych squad.

You need the second printing of the codex, wych weapons were made a generic addition to the squad.

Well Wyches are best against your opponants CC specialists as they negate having two weapons, they negate having power weapons (inv save), They half the weapon skill of incoming attacks so are usually only hit on a 4+ negating a high weapon skill, and strike at a ridiculus I negating high I.
They also have combat drugs where every result is good/decent.
Most of the damage is done by the succubus with his/her agoniser.
Where they are not as effective is engaging basic troops as they care not for most of their neutering effects. If you catch my drift.

I rarely use wyches in one off assualts anymore. I run one squad with my punisher weilding archon, one squad is a retinue for my dracite and has the goblet of spite and the remaining 2 I use to combine assualts with the first two squads. This has led to massive success.

In a recent tourney I have seen a unit of wyches tie up then defeat kharn the betrayer PLUS a unit of berzerkers.....absolutely amazing....

Wyches are one of the best cc units in the game.
Given them wych weapons and let the unit be led by a Succubus with agonizer and trophy rack.
