I attempted to search the forum for this but I kept getting an error so I apologize if this has been asked before.

If a squad of gaunts has Without Number and all synapse has been killed off and they attempt to move from the table edge. If they fail their leadership test and are forced to fallback to the table edge, does this count as an automatic kill point?

I guess it would if they went off the table, then you would have the choice of bringing them back or leaving them dead to avoid that possibly happening again.

Technically no. It counts for Victory Points. This is of course a strict RAW and only a disclaimer for the more literal sorts.

How Would I Play It? It would count as a Kill Point.

Your game, you and your opponent decide. I'd suggest a D6 roll if you can't come to an agreement.

Wait, you mean as in they walk on and fail the instinctive behavour test (while they walk on), I'm not sure that they have to take that when they move onto the board.

Don't have the BRB with me, but I believe that when moving from the board, rules that disallow movement (such as Rage, Instictive Behaviour etc) are ignored.

You ignore rules that could cause units not to be able to enter the board when they are coming in. Just like you can't roll for overcharged engines on a blood angel rhino because you can get a 1 and cause the rhino to not be able to enter. Taking an IB test before entering the board can cause the gaunts to not be able to get on the table.

Exactly. This is a universal to prevent situations where something wonky happens and the unit that just came in would not come in or would otherwise run off and do something stupid that would negate them coming in as Reserves or whatever other mission situation requires them to come in.

You ignore IB the turn they move on. However, next turn, they're running lol (unless you choose for them to just sit there)

Falling back towards the synapse though, so usually a good thing.

If there is no Syanpes WTH are you bringing gaunts on the table for, unless it is the last turn, and they are in range of an objective?

Dunno, it was a point brought up earlier Not only that, you have to bring em in once the last model dies per WoN rules... I guess WoN would be great on a squad of Spinegaunts with Scuttlers! I might try that someday...

No, you MAY bring them in, you do not HAVE to.

Without number is great for objective games. Depending on the size of the game, I try to bring at least 1 or 2 WoN broods of 8 Spinegaunts or Termagants, and use them as cannon fodder, tarpits and mobile cover. If it's a KP mission, I just don't bring em back.

Perhaps to leave that last turn option available? As I understand it, if you do not bring the gaunts back on the next turn, then that is it and they are gone for good. So if you want them available for that last turn objective grab, you would have to bring them back every time they "died".

I could see it for normal games, but tourneys? Seeing as most games are secondary obj. "get more KP's" seems pretty bad to me. I used to run WoN broods, but it wasted a lot of troop spots. So I've just taken to running 20-32 gaunts per brood and just sit em somewhere. Give em cover behind something and they normally never die. If they get assaulted they can lock up most squads for a good while. Or I'll throw them at something I don't care to face in CC (like an Avatar or Wraithlord) and watch it get bogged down for the rest of the game I can see the use of WoN, I just don't particularly agree with using it most of the time (seeing as an 8 man squad with WoN = 24 points, which could be almost 5 extra gaunts!)

Since respawning gaunts ignore IB the turn they come on, that means they are scoring until their next IB test (because they are neither lurking nor falling back). This means that if you have an objective 10 inches from the edge of the board (6" enter + 1" minimum fleet + 3" objective capture range) you're guaranteed to be holding it if the gaunts die the turn before the last turn of the game.

Of course, with random turn lengths, this can screw you.
