I am revamping the color scheme for my custom chapter, the one my only tac squad + command is white and black. After 11 minis I decided that was stupid, i'm not that good at painting.
Images made using B&C Space Marine Painter and The Gnu Image Manipulation Program.
Thanks for looking.

And before you ask, yes, I like my men in skirts.

The Black Templar-ish marine looks best, followed by the Salamander / Dark Angel.

Pink / purple is kind of a pain to paint. I'd avoid them.

Brown isn't "knightly", so I'd avoid that as well.

Maybe some other colours on the green one.

Cheese Elemental-Love does not bloom in 40k. Love burns. It gets turned inside out, set on fire, raped, shot with bolters, and beaten with a crowbar.

I agree that the original one looks still best. Green...green can work and is second, but, as said, maybe you could add another colour to separate them from DA and Salamanders. Brown and purple can work, but...nah, not that schemes.

Order:

1 black / white
2 green
3 brown / yellow

Brown is a color used in heraldry but rare.

Maybe green + white?

Black / white is fine, still not easy to differ from Black templars,Raven Guard,Iron Hands,....

Purple is interesting but tends to look girlish.

A brown model will be a "chocolate fig" ...

the B&W is very clean, but i find it a bit plain and reminiscent of other chapters as afore mentioned, the green tends to be along that line as well. The brown and purple clash something chronic (no offense) leaving my fave... the Hash marine, brown and gold FTW. mind you my marines are orange and purple with gold and bronze so my veiw may be slightly skewed... ><

Looks nice to me, better than pure purple. Reminds me of Emperor's Children, though.

Postscriptum: Well, that was the problem I had when trying to choose an own chapter colour: Everything has been done and there are only so many colours. Looks like they're become Ultramarines now...

The 2nd purple scheme isn't bad, but you'll have an easier time if you limit the purple to just the shoulderpads...

Maybe change some of the accents & such from purple to white helmet / silver edging / black backpack / tan tabard?

This is the Inquisition liaison chapter, right?

In that case I'd either go Black and White or Black and Purple.

Black is good for the sinister nature of their work. White represents purity, purple represents authority (particularly in a Roman sense). Both work well.

Purple and White isn't dark enough, though. It makes them look like the Pretty Marines.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

green is basically the color scheme I use for my marines, except I use black trim (aurora chapter)

that said, if I could do large white surfaces in a timely manner, i'd have gone with the original scheme. otherwise, green ftw.
