So, I was browsing FW, and came across a pre-heresy land raider.

I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me as to what the difference might be...

I'm not the most knowledgable fluff guy around, but I do know the rough outline of events.

Was there a change in thier manufacture? I couldn't imagine the forge worlds changing anything.

Not sure, well the pre-heresy vehicles would not have the double headed eagle on them and might include thousand son or other traitior legions marks on them.

Not to instantly post you wrong, but (atleast the model) does have a double eagle on the front as well as some of the treads.

So the traitor legions theoretically would be an option, should the double eagle not be there?

Pre-Heresy only the Emporers children were allowed to wear the double headed eagle. After Fulgrims inspiriing speach to his legion which was reduced to about two companys after some early flaw in the gene-seed. The Emporer gave them the name "Emporers chidren" and permited them to wear them doubled headed eagle.

But to be honest, Its probaly forgeworld trying to make more money.

But different forgeworlds do have different designs. Some lasguns shoot blue, others shoot red.

The pre-heresy predator tanks had round turrets instead of the boxy ones now used. (That's the 'old model' for ya actually, but it fits)

Also the sponsoons are more archaich looking than the current ones....maybe the same on the land raider? (Almost looks like a castle on treads?)

Some people consider the older 1st and 2nd edition vehicles (Rhino Mk1 and Land Raider Mk1) to be "pre-heresy", while the current versions are "post-heresy". In general, I agree. However, the Per-Heresy Land Raider by FW is a closer match to the Mk2 Land Raider released for Epic 40k before the Mk3 Land Raider was released for regular 40k. So, personally, I consider the FW Pre-Heresy Land Raider to actually be a "Heresy" era Land Raider, as it is technically older than the current Mk3 yet is way too new to fill the shoes of the original "Godhammer" (aka, "football") Land Raider.

The Heresy Visions books showed both the Mk.I and Mk.II, so I'd agree that the Mk.I is the actual Pre-Heresy, and the Mk.II is the Heresy version. The Mk.II could have first appeared just before the Heresy, but not enough to take over the Mk.I as the real pre-Heresy Land Raider.
