Hey, I've been playing Blood Angels for a little while, and, while I love the fluff, I hate how little options they get in both wargear and units.

I've been thinking of using my Space Marines with the rules in either the original SM Codex, or the BT codex.

Could anyone tell me what those two Chapters are like, rules-wise? Do they have more options? are they more shooty or are they more assaulty? Are they similar gameplay? etc.

If anyone could help me, it would be awesome. Thanks.

Vanilla SM are shooty, based on Mech 10-man Tactical squads, and won't play at all like BA.

Templars are a closer match to BA, but you'll lose out on Scoring AM goodness.

If you're painted up as BA, why not give the WD Codex a few goes. It's really not bad unless you're actively trying to play as vanilla Codex SM.

To be honest, i would stick with the BA rules for a while.
You will find they dont play even close to either basic marines or templars.

They have thier own style which is why i play them, not only that, but the unique units they get are top notch.

If your going to use another codex and try and keep a combat style then i would wait for codex: space pups to be released.

I would flog you and then flog you again if you came into my local store trying to play Blood Angels as Nilla.

You have a codex, and it has many advantages. Do you know what I would have given for Death Company or Baal Preds in my Wolf Army?

Yes, but now I know they are awesome and I want them. However, Bjorn is back yay! And I still have the Original metal Model. Beat that!

My older brother's old Metal Bjorn is sitting on a shelf right now, he's had his for a long time too. Very cool dread.

Hmmmm....ok, I guess I'll stick with BA then.

I heard from my local Games Workshop store-guy that an actual BA codex (nots ome PDF with no fluff) is in the works and should be out in a few years.

Dunno if its true or not, but I love the BA fluff, if not for their lack of many kick-A units (like iron-clad dreads), so I'll stick with 'em.
