WIP, only two rules came out of the 7-hour gaming marathon tonight:

1) Terminator player drinks when a Terminator dies
2) Genestealer player drinks for every six Genestealers that die

Rule in development:

3) Terminator player drinks twice when the Librarian dies
(would probably hold for the Broodlord as well)

We tested this with 15% alcohol shots tonight and it worked just fine for four games, switching off between Terminator and Genestealer player for each Mission...any other ideas for "take a drink" criteria?

You don't know anyone in Nevada, do you? That sounds like the game some friends of mine have been playing since at least 2nd edition Space Hulk.

Battlefleet alcoholic? sounds fun, got rules? as for the Shulk one, how bout:

terminator player drinks when unable to clear a jam,
terminator player drinks when a special weapon runs out of ammo.

stealers drink when they re shuffle thier blips,
stealers drink when they lose 3 blips in a turn (i.e from flamer or librarian powers)

you could try it with 30-40% alcohol, or you could be a lot more liberal with the'player drinks when' but use 3 fingers of beer as the penalty instead of a shot?

I'll be honest - this is my first drinking game. I know about lots of them but was never inclined to participate...so whatever theory of drinking games may exist is beyond me, hence my questions about when to drink.

Right now the only mechanic seems to be "when you screw up, you drink." Not that you can avoid stuff dying, but it's still a basic penalty mechanic.

Inability to clear a jam is running out of Command Points...I suppose that could be construed as screwing up, from a certain p.o.v., but then if you are running out of Command Points consistently chances are it's because you lost your Sgt. and you already drank for that.

Or you could make it drink if you lose the Libby OR the Sgt...

I think it's relatively easy to come up with drinking criteria for the Space Marine player, but for the Genestealers it's tougher. We tried "drink if you lose a blip" but then you have to keep track of which Genestealers come from which blips and after a few rounds of SHDG (Space Hulk Drinking Game) you're not going to be able to tell who came from where...and then we tried "drink if you lose three Genestealers" but rather quickly decided that this would lead to alcohol poisoning...

Oh, and no, I don't know anyone from Nevada, but if you could get thier rules from them and post them up that would be of great assistance. My gaming partner from yesterday is a proper English person who's been playing 40K since 1st Ed, and somehow it had never occured to him that Space Hulk and drinking games were compatible with one another. I knew we couldn't have been the only people doing it, but I'd never heard of it before, either.

So others' versions would be good to hear about.

I now return to my mild hangover...feth but typing starting into this white window is kind of the suck right now...

In a drinking game, the goal is usually to see how long you can last before getting drunk. Therefore, the more opportunites to drink, the better, without necessarily drinking every 5 seconds.

So...it's not necessarily drinking when you scew up, per se, but rather you just need to drink.

When studying in Florence (far away from Massachusetts in the US) my roommate and I devised a game we dubbed "Whiskheim".

Playing Mordheim with a bottle of whiskey and two shot glasses nearby...

1/2 shot if a model is Knocked Down...
1 shot if a model is Stunned...
2 shots if a model is taken Out of Action.

Good times =)

Hows about shot evry turn a blip is forced to lurk, or shot for bringing stealers on from an entry point in LOS of a marine?

Player drinks a single shot for every dice they roll?

Were I to play this game with MY friends, it would go more like this:

Both players drink when they open the box.
Both players drink while they set up.
Both players drink when they set up each mini.
Both players drink when they rool a die/dice.
Both players drink when something dies.

Then again, we used to play a REALLY fun drinking game called, 'You Drink". You play it like this: the player whose turn it is points at another player and says, "You drink". That player drinks and then points at another player and says, "You drink". Keep playing until somebody passes out or you come up with somehting else to do or go.

I plan to make a drinking game out of reading the new Space Wolces codex:

You read the word "wolf" or "wolves": 1 Drink

You read the word "fang", "rune", or "axe": 2 Drinks

You see a picture of some object shaped like a wolf: 2 Drinks

You see a picture of an actual wolf: 3 Drinks, 5 if a Space Wolf is riding it

There's more than five special characters: 10 Drinks

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

If you go for the 1st version, you could certainly drink every time a Stealer or Blip is killed by any means other than a Storm Bolter.

I'd be inclined to do something like:

SM player drinks every time
...a 6 CP is revealed
...a Termie dies (+ 1 extra drink for the Librarian, Heavy Weapon, or Sarge; +1 extra drink if the Marine was carrying a CAT, artefact, etc. at the time)
...a SB jams
...a Heavy Weapon fails to kill a blip or stealer
...the Broodlord is revealed

Stealer player drinks every time
...a 1 CP is revealed
...a Stealer or Blip dies to something other than a Storm Bolter
...a Stealer can't be placed when a Blip is revealed because there's not enough room
...a Broodlord dies (3 drinks)

For a slightly more serious game, Marine drinks every time a 3-Blip is converted, & Stealer drinks every time a 1-Blip is converted.
