So, basic Speed Freaks stuff. Simple, Ork tactics of moving towards the enemy and smashing their teeth in. The Nobs should draw the most fire, so the Trukks should managed to get by unmolested. The massive footprint of the Bikers lets me get in huge multi-assaults, meaning if I play it right, I can bust up multiple tanks, MCs, or whatnot off a single big assault. Ideally, I can focus on a flank and just roll them up, leaving the the Boyz to get to objectives while they focus on killing the Nobs.

Thoughts?

Those Nobs are effectively 68 points each! Are They really that powerful or just resilient? Do you have a back-up plan if you do not go first? If the opponent steals the initiative?

QFT.

If someone unloads into the orks and takes down their numbers quickly you'll be in a lot of trouble! Especially if you face armys like Chaos or Nids that carry templates around like they're goin outta style (not to mention IG!)

They always have a 4+ cover save, so if I don't go first, its not the end of the world. When I do, its just better. I have had entire armies spend rounds on my Nobs in the past with little to no effect. They are really, really disgusting. Sure, 68 points each, but we have T5, 3+/4+ cover and 4+ armor, 5+ invuln and FNP on two-wound unique models. Spread out at max coherency and templates do jack - along the lines of two or three hits, at most.

Any other comments?

To be honest, Orks were the last army I would think of to have the most expensive squad of 10 models I have ever seen.

But it does look like a very fun list.

Oh, I have a stupid question (that I probably already should know by now) If you turbo boost, can you still run or assault?

Bikers don't run period, but I donno if you can assault or not.

Anyways, seems like a neat list! I assume it tries to set up a Turn 2 charge at the least, but are the armor plates really worth it on AV10? If your getting hit your trukk is probably gonna die.

Have you ever fought a marine army heavy on TH/SS termies with this list?

Dedrith wrote:Oh, I have a stupid question (that I probably already should know by now) If you turbo boost, can you still run or assault?

Not really a stupid question. When you turbo-boost in the move phase, you can't shoot or run in the shooting phase or assault in the assault phase. (Bikes can't run anyway) Basically, Turboboost takes your whole turn.

TH/SS Marines are a pain. Generally, though, I am doing enough wounds to drop enough of them that its not a major issue. They do tend to tarpit, which is annoying. Overall, with a lot of my guys going first, I should drop at least 1-2 before they strike, hopefully meaning I will only face a few (~3-4). That means my ton of PK attacks should kill the remainder, ideally.

It is my least favorite unit to see and one I am likely to go against at my shop.

Can't assault out of a turbo boost, if I read right, pg. 76 in the rulebook has turbo-booster special rule. Hope that helps

As soon as the local IG players notice that you are running Nob Bikers, they will almost certainly field a Psyker Battle Squad. GW did a good job by including a Nob Biker counter in the IG codex. The Nob Bikers are still strong but when you face that Psyker Battle Squad it's almost an instant loss.

Well, that works if I take a casualty, but they need to do that before I get to them, because the Nob Bikers are Fearless with their Boss attached.

Does a Mindwar from the Eldar players give you any trouble?

Lol...

Mind war allows for cover saves, so you shouldn't have that much trouble. Nob bikers are a powerfull army until someone takes an army specifically to fight them.

Yes 3 dakka predators and 3 MM dreads are going to do a lot against nob bikers........

Forget Nob Bikers. I wait with baited breath for a "best of" list to win first in the tournament circuit! That isnt happening anytime soon! There is nothing "best of" about garbage spam.

Wow people still believe this? When did the IG codex come out?

Its so easy to make Orks fearless it isnt funny.

Has your local environment not adjusted to Nob Bikes yet?

I feel like Nob Bikes is a really gimmicky army and once the opposing player knows what they do and how, they can build counters into their lists and alter their style of play to deal with them fairly easily.

Your army is less of a one dimensional affair though as you have that pile of Trukks coming in behind the Bikers. I think this is a very good thing, but I still don't know how well it will work because you're tying up a mountain of points into a unit that most people/armies should be equipped to deal with at this point.

yea, nob bikers are easily counterable, by even a moderate sized terminator unit. I find a much deadlier ork unit is nobz in a battle wagon, because there are just so many more of them, that they get enough big choppa attacks in before the thunder hammers that they kill most of the terminators.

Well, Horst, you will notice I get roughly 16 Big Choppa, 4 Choppa, and 4 'urty syringe hits before TH/SS Termies can get in their hits. Also, lets remember this is a 1500pt list, not 2000+. What can most "All-Comers" lists do for this list? That is what I am asking myself, currently. AP1, AP2, and str8+ weapons. My metagame has not really adjusted, because no one has played them except for me and I never did a list like this (usually ran a lot more Boyz in a much friendlier list).

My other option is Wagon rush, which is a list I am still tinkering with.

Speaking of that other list, here is what I had drawn up thus far. I really cannot decide, but I know that I can get away with going Blood Axes if I do the battlewagons, whereas Bikers are usually Speed Freaks (I don't want to paint that much red!).

That seems to have a nice wall of AV14 with 4+ saves thanks to the KFF, but I am not sure it can reliably deal with AV14 and the typical contents (Termies), whereas the Bikers seem a stronger option.

I'd definately vote list2 as stronger, personally.

I'd kit the battlewagons out differently, though...

Battlewagon :
Armor plates
Red Paint
Zzap gun (gives you some anti-tank ability if needed)
grabbing claw (slow down those land raiders so you can autohit with nobz)
reinforced ram (re-roll terrain)
boarding plank (for the warbosses wagon at least, so he can attack vehicles without risking the disembark)
stikkbomm chucka (so your mobz strike before powerklaws)

the battlewagon spam list has alot more going for it... I mean, krak missiles spell doom for nob bikers, and just about every race has them or their equivalent in large enough nunbers. also, in your biker list, you have trukk boyz, which I'm not a fan of, because of their small mob size. 20 is much nicer than 12. and really, no list can deal with a wall of av14 4 tanks wide at 1500 point, except maybe a tooled tau list with 9 broadsides...

You should expect to see at most 1 land raider at 1500 points, and I think your list could deal with it. remember, you don't need to kill it to win... if you simply box the land raider in with your 4 battlewagons, it can't really do jack, because the terminators can't disembark, and the raider itself can't move enough to avoid being wailed on by power klaws. the warboss at str10 should be enough to put it out of business, as long as it didn't move last turn... which is where your grabbin' claws come in handy.

HAHA Zzap as anti-tank as anti-tank...

4 Battlewagons at 1500pts seems to me like its a bit more threatening than a unit of Nob Bikes. I like the second list more. I'd be extremely thrilled if there was a way to cram Gazghkull into the list, but I think at 1500pts it probably just isn't possible :(

Yea, it would result in me tossing the Mek or cutting Boyz, so it wouldn't be worth it. If I went up to 1750, Thraka would be perfect.

Yeah dont use any gun with less than 3 shots or a 5" template in an ork army.
