Been ordering stuff like mad from ebay recently due to losing my previous BA army.
Now its time to start again, but this time im somewhat better at everything than when i 1st built them, meaning they will look alot better lol, not only that, but this army wont weigh 10Kg lol (last army was almost pure metal)
Basic start:

Ordered from ebay - Ironclad, pred, termie libby, tac squad and 5 hulk termies.
Have allready - 20 tactical marine, 5 termies (possibly wont be used) Captain

Story so far: Today the 5 spcae hulk termies have arrived (lorenzo + 4 normal termies)
also, the pred has turned up.

Crisis! - Just went to start putting them together and realised i have a problem, no glue ;(
Not only that, but my BA red is empty, meaning ill have to order more stuff.
So this will be a fairly slow start, but it will get going

Space hulk termie problems - Not so much problems, but more of an annoyance.
The sprues from the models for some unknown reason have been attatched to the most delicate parts of the models, meaning it took me 20 mins to take them off the sprues.
However, they are fine, and the models look great.
Ill get a few pics up later once i have removed mould lines and drilled barrels of the 10 tac marines and 10 termies i have so far.

Also, i have ordered 5 bases (40mm round) due to the fact i forgot the hulk models dont have them lol.

Army layout - Going for a nice fluffy list, however, i wont be using any special characters.
I plan to have them lead by a libby (GW metal one) and a jump pack chappy (so the DC are fine to use)


So, pics will be up a bit later, i may go to the local store to grab glue and paint (im like a kid with a new toy when it comes to the hulk termies )

Edit: Crisis solved on 1 part
Found some 40mm bases from my daemon prince collection, so those have been stolen.


Dont feel much like removing the floor sections from the feet, so ill build this into an urban theme for the army.

Bases will be sanded and then pieces of scrap added to them for some detail (and so the termies fit in)
The sand will then be painted and brushes grey.

Well the stuff you have sounds amazing but you are a complete wazzak for not having any glue!!!

I havent brought any new models in ages, nor have i converted anything, so naturally i wouldnt check if i had glue lol.
I may take a wander to the shops in a min though and grab a tub of superglue for now.


Also, anyone good with getting over fears?
Drilling out barrels looks great, however, after the last time i have gone off it due to being worried about it
Usually i make a small hole using a blade as a guide for the pin vice.
however, last time it wasnt enough, i slipped, and managed to get it stuck in thumb (under the nail)
Since then i havent used it lol, but i need to now, since i want to go the whole hog with this army.

Update - got rid of the mould lines on the hulk termies now!
The connection places on the sprues is gak, and makes them a nightmare to cut out.

Lol schoolboy error. We've all been there, furiously ordering minis and then realising we're missing the most important thing. I did it recently when I ordered tons of minis and paint, then realised I had nothing to undercoat them with .

Heh, i wouldnt usually mind, but i undercoat my BA with BA red, then use it in the progressive highlighting lol
I may give it a go using a red gore base coat and shading it up to the right colour by mixing my own, but i then hit the problem of mixing ratio's.
I never seem to be able to mix up the same colour more than once.
Ill grab the glue from the garage by me in an hour or so (i can atleast get started then)
and ill find a different way of doing the barrels.

but painting must wait for now :(

I've been organising my BA (That I never got round to painting) So I'm in the same boat as you. Looking forward to this blog with interest...

The pred hasnt been decided on just yet, i may go with a tri-las pred, simply because the Acannon looks like crap :(

OK, pics finally here now, after waiting ages :(

On its way via ebay are: Ironclad (furioso) libby and another tac squad.



1: Overview of what i have so far , which is:

Commander (converted AoBR)
2 tac squads. (both AoBR)
2 termie squads. (1 AoBR, 1 space hulk)

A few of these have been used for colour test mini's as you can see lol, but ive now removed mould lines from every model and im now working on drilling out barrels.
Once i have glue the termies will be fixed to bases and given arms (and put together)
Ordered some paint aswell since my reds seem to have died all at the same time

But yea, this is the army thus far, and pics as promised

Calibra aint cheap though, picked it up for £150 as scrap (front and back wrecked)
done it up again and rebuilt it and now i'd never part with it

Looks neat, get some assault marines. Best thing about the BA is the Assault troops being troops. Eventually mine will have 40 assault marines, but as it is I still need to paint what I have.

Vauxhall Monaro for the win!

Captain is nothing special really, just the AoBR model with a head and arms swap.
He wont be in my final list, but he is just there for now.

Ill get a few more pics of him for later

Termie libby is here!

The models seems a bit weird, its covered in flash, and has tons of little tabs on it.
The pin on his foot (base attatchment) is about an inch long 0_o

anyways, he is all sorted and ready for a wash then glue
Still have no glue, but i do have some araldite (epoxy glue, amazing strength)
That will do for him, since i can use GS to hold it while it cures.
so ill have pics of him up soon.
Ill also see if any shops by me have glue in stock, if they do ill have an up-to-date pic of the pred aswell.

Got a mail on ebay, letting me know that there was a few complications with stock, and that my ironclad has now been posted to me (5 days after ive ordered it)

so not all bad, and atleast i can paint the libby (since hes smurf coloured lol)

The libby you have, is it metal? If it;s plastic maybe the mould was on its last legs when they cast it.

I'm still waiting for bloodquest to arrive from some mook on ebay. Though it may be cus royal mail keep striking all the time. Grrrrrr.

However, its some crappy epoxy stuff, so testing it on a gobbo 1st to make sure it workes

Painting: Once i have my libby together ill get him undercoated and base coloured today, then i can finish him tomorrow

got a nice new ironclad today
That will be put together and painted up as a death company dreadnought, allthough im nor sure weather ill use the hammer arm or the chainfist arm yet x.x

also, the shop gets a delivery today, so i can get some glue finally
Been using araldite 5 minute epoxy glue to put things together so far lol.

But to cut a long story short, tonight ill have pics of my army put together, and the libby should be undercoated and allready started one

and on the note of finishing this post, the araldite epoxy glue ive been using is amazing!
It takes a while to dry, so parts need to be held in place for 10 mins, but it bonds very well, maybe even better than pinning a model!

As for arms, you get 2 Hflamers in the kit, so ill make the hammer and chain arm up with a Hflamer on each, that way i can swap depending on if i like em
so im now off to get to work, since i finally have glue

Got some time to put things together finally

Pred is now together in all its tri-las glory
Dread has its grabba arm, the left arm is swappable between hammer and chain (both with Hflamer)

all models have been assembled so far, just waiting on a 3rd tac squad to turn up and thats everything for now.

Need to get sorted for going out tomorrow now, but ill get some updated pics up tonight of everything

Finally got some things together now.
Libby is undercoated and ready for paint finally
Allthough, it means having to paint blue :(

Since my white is nearly dead (none left and dry) ive had to water it down heavily to get some out, meaning this took 12 coats of paint alltogether to get a half decent coverage, it will do though



Pred is now up and running, may add more detail to it though around the bodywork since its a bit basic, turret has some nice details though.

All glued together now and ready to be undercoated.
The weapons, turret and door have all been glued in place.
I find that they tend to break if i dont do this lol, so i rather keep them intact.



Death company dread together and waiting for undercoat.
Arms have been left with pins so i can swap and change depending on which one i prefer (even though it changes no rules lol)

The classic hammer arm, nice and chunky, and able to be moved for once




The chainfist, which IMO looks far to thin and not bulky enough, so chances are ill leave this one alone.




Thats it for now, but ill have more updates as i start painting and more stuff arrives in the post
Ill be buying more paints soon in the form of a new wash set, new foundation and alot of normal colours, since mine are mainly dry, allmost empty, or no use lol.

Libby update: The blue armour is getting there (rest is still white)

Its been inked blue
had an enchanted blue extreme highlight (leaving the ink as shading)
Then a enchanted blue / skull white highlight.
then the same as above, but lighter.
Just needs a final highlight now (possibly with ice blue)


after that i can then move onto working on his robe and skulls + book pages.

you have built your dread pretty much the same as me, though I gave the hammer the stormbolter so I could swap between HF and SB.

Looking forward to painted libby pics.
