I'm running an Athlon XP.
750W PSU, though, and a 128mb VDA.
I've had it for 8 years but processor, RAM and CD/dvd/HD have all been replaced with better models.

What's pretty recockulous is that you can get a lower end 1156 board for about $100 or so if you shop around, core i5 750 for about $200, and at least 4gb of DDR3 for about $100, throw your PSU and the guts into your case. The corei5 750 is not only about 40-50 $ cheaper than an Phenom II x4 945 BE, it generally outperforms it!

My Laptop is 8 years old and on it's last legs, if that's any compensation.

Really should get a new one. Perhaps one where the battery actually works. That would be a start. And doesn't take half an hour to get it's boiler up to pressure.
