Deployment Type: Dawn of War
I win the roll off and let him deploy.
Deployment: He deploys a rhino w/ tactical squad square in the middle of the table. I deploy Zak'nev and a berserker bodyguard on the right flank and the plague marines on the left. He then tries to infiltrate Shrike and the vanguard, and I have to tell him that even tho they are attached he can't deploy them like that in dawn of war. He then deploys his scouts on the edge, combat squaded (I let him do it, even though it's wrong because I didn't really feel like rules lawyering it). The possessed roll rending for their random roll.
Raven Guard Turn #1
He bunch's most things in the center, with his other rhino squad on the left flank. His rhino in the center moves back. Night fight protects me fairly well.
Black Legion Turn #1
Slaanesh
csm come on the right flank to back up the
dp and berserkers. Auto-cannon havocs and missile launcher havocs move and run into position in the center. The possessed and tzeentchian
csm move up the left flank to support the plague marines. The heavy bolter havocs head up the left flank for an elevated position. The berserkers move up and run, and Zak'nev moves up towards the enemy lines.
Raven Guard Turn #2
Shrike and vanguard outflank on the right flank and assault the slaanesh
csm. I didn't realize this before but shrike no longer has furious charge, the slaanesh tactical squad goes first and kills 4 out of the 5 vanguard (1 power weapon wound, and 5 saves with him failing 3 of his normal saves). Shrike kills 3 the relic blade whiffs and the slaanesh
csm win the combat, and shrike fails his morale check and runs, making it away from the slaanesh
csm. The two
tac squads advance down the center and left flank. His fire base peppers off some berserkers but fails to do anything to the daemon prince.
Black Legion Turn #2
The slaanesh marines hoot and holler firing off their guns at the retreating shrike and last vanguard putting a wound on shrike (ie staying within 6 to keep them fleeing).
The missile launcher havocs punch one of the land speeders and shake the other one. The auto-cannon havocs stun the center rhino. The plague marines move up into a covered position and fire on the assault squad killing one. The heavy bolter havocs attain their elevated position and the possessed and tzeentchian
csm move up the center. The berserkers continue to run towards the enemy.
Zak'nev fills the minds of the devastators with visions of fallen comrades and they come rushing towards him. Zak'nev assaults the devastators killing 2 (they do 1 wound in return and pass their morale checks).

Raven Guard #3
Shrike continues to run, but not very far.

The
tac squad from the stunned rhino in the center gets out shoots the tzeentchian
csm and then assault sthem. The tzeentchians win and lock down the
tac squad (he caused no wounds at all in
hth, his power fist whiffed all three attacks and I made all my saves). The other
tac squad drives up dumps out and shoots into the plague marines, killing 2 of them. The assault squad shoots them and kills another then the assault squad jumps in(his fist again fails to hit with it's three attacks). The mighty Zak'nev kills 1 devastator but they do no damage back and stay in
hth (his fist again failed to hit). He lights up the berserkers some more getting them down to two models.
Post-scrum lockdown on all 4 squads.
Black Legion Turn #3
The berserkers finally make it into hand to hand! They charge a 5 man unit of scouts killing 4 of them and locking the last one in
hth.
The possessed charge into the assault squad, rending two and forcing a bunch of saves (his fist fails to save it's allocated hit) and between the possessed and plague marines the squad is wiped out. The plague marines are once again kings of the hill.
The tzeentchian squad lays into their
tac squad counterparts and again his fist failed the one armor save he had to allocate to him. Zak'nev kills another devastator but they do a wound back and stick in hand to hand. Missiles shoot into tellions scout squad killing 2 of them. The slaanesh
csm shoot at shrike and friend again and kill off the last vanguard.
Raven Guard Turn #4
One rhino tries to tank shock the heavy bolter havocs and immobilizes itself, the other tank shocks onto the left objective. The
tac squad shoots and charges into the 3 remaining plague marines his fist takes out one plague marine but they hold the line. Kills 2 but they stay in
hth. The dread charges in and kills off the last 2 berserkers, but not before they kill the last scout. Shrike rolls like a 15 to finally get away from his pursuers.
Black Legion Turn #4
Chosen finally come on, on the left flank, they light up the rhino (losing two of their own to overheats) and immobilize it.
The slaanesh marines stay near their objective and take some long range shots at shrike, the lascannon hit's but he makes his 4+.
Zak'nev finally kills off the last devastators and chooses to go mono-e-mono with shrike and moves towards him.

The possessed charge into the
tac squad and between their attacks and the pm's do absolutely no damage!. The auto-cannon havocs kill off tellion and another scout so they are down to 1 model. The missiles shake and destroy weapons and stuff but the rhino on the objective is still there!
Raven Guard Turn #5
Shrike assaults Zak'nev and gets thumed (2 hits, 2 wounds, 2 failed saves on shrikes part (he had taken one earlier). The possessed and plague marine do a bit better and actually kill some
tac marines this turn but they all stay locked in
hth. The speeder boosts to contest the rightmost objective. The lone scout moves up to claim the center objective and we are currently at 1 objective him, the other 2 contested.
Black Legion Turn #5
The auto-cannons finally manage to kill the rhino contesting the left objective, the chosen charge in and between the chosen, possessed, and plague marines the last of the
tac squad is wiped out. Zak'nev runs over and kills the last scout, but I fail to bring down the speeder, so we end up with 1 objective for chaos, 1 un-claimed and one contested.
Victory!
We called the game there. Shrike fleeing on turn two was definitely a huge factor. It basically left my entire fire base intact and able to reign down fury across the table. The turn 3 whiffage of all his power fists and then failing all their saves in the subsequent turns led to their downfall, there wasn't much he could do there. I think he probably should have shot and charged the possessed with the
tac squad instead of my full sized tzeentch squad, but with the way he was rolling it probably wouldn't have mattered. Either that or he should have just held back with the two
tac squads or used them to support the assault squad attacking the plague marines. He feels about vanguard the way I feel about possessed, they are in the list because they are fluffy for the army but man they just don't seem to do a whole lot. The daemon prince did a whole lot of whiffing in
hth even without lash I could have made it to the scout squad closest to me on turn #2 and I probably would have been better served by taking warp time, I'll probably try that out the next time I field the army.
