Just thought i would make a thread after taking a closer look at my space hulk termies, im somewhat worried really.
I know that when models get re-produced the quality if affected quite a bit.

the 5 i got were not only covered in flash (legs were allmost joined) but the sprues looked pretty tacky (air bubbles in plastic? 0_o

Now, they have alot of parts on them that look like either wires or bad moulding (havent seen any high quality pics of these parts up close, so im not sure if they are ment to be there)
Also, the details seem pretty faint.
Things like the wings on them seem to blend into the armour rather than standing out and having a solid edge.
also, the termie holding the stealer head in his hand, if you look at the underside the stealer jaw isnt defined, it just blends into the powerfist.
Most of the wires are comming from the skulls on thier crux (from the mouth) some run down to the end of the shoulder pad, where as others end half way down or lower.


Just wanted to know really if this was the normal thing.
Any ideas or better pics (close ups really)

again, i apologise about pics as im not used to this cam.
Just wanted to get this one cleared up as its pissing me off.
If they are re-casts im sending some pics (better quality than these) along with the ebayers name to GW, i paid £30 as it was, last thing i want is a cheap copy for that money.

but yeah, area's of sketchiness in your reproductions is sometimes normal depending on the quality of the casting process. most of this will be down to oxygen in the mould upon drying or a poorly made mould.

Waaaagh, i brought these via a shop on ebay, this is why i was worried about them being re-casts, but mainly due to the poor quality which was what made me start this thread.

Just looked at a couple of mine.. those look normal to me. Maybe a slightly different shade of red, but I'll chock that up to the pics and not the models.

Thing to remember - These are only a couple pieces, which means there are going to be areas where they aren't as detailed as they could have been.. the gene stealers jaw running into the arm is one example. Some of the gene stealers have a bit less details under their bodies where the legs come together.

At least that's how mine are.. and they came directly from GW

I can assure you that the off shade is my cam lol, hence why one looks close to being transparent XD

Thanks again, this is good news for me lol, wanted to make sure i brought the real thing from ebay.
I know not to expect much from the quality due to being snap fits, but still, seems weird that certain details are messed up, yet more complicated parts are amazing.

also, is it just me, or are there alot of random wires everywhere?

It is my opinion the random wires are flash or mold lines, or at least a lame attempt at covering up mold lines.

Aduro, these are fairly raised and shown, they stick out quite a bit, and are actually curved on the top and bottom (which is why i have refered to them as wires)

What started me on this was a while back, we had a thread on here about re-cast mini's.
On the thread there were some pics supplied by someone of some models that had been re-cast.
they had the raised wire like areas on them, hence why ive checked
I rather be safe than sorry, so if i have to make myself look dumb and ask questions to save problems, ill happily do it

It's just something I noticed was that the Hulk Termies are very covered in wires everywhere. Seems they got dressed in a rush.
